Friends, Family, Anyone Else Stopping By, Please Leave a Message, Picture, or other Contribution Below for my Dad. Thanks!

My dad was diagnosed with GBM brain cancer on November 9, 2007. He had a tumor the size of a walnut and immediately started radiation and chemo therapy. Since March 2008, the tumor has been in remission and continues chemo once a month for a week.

My dad is a hero to his family and others who may be facing these same challenges. He is now spending some time doing more of the things he loves. He enjoys fishing, woodworking, being outdoors, and spending time with family.

We all know that living with cancer can be difficult. Some days are great, some are downers, but I believe that with the support of friends, family, and the community, you can get through anything.

Please use this site to post your comments, pictures, thoughts, wishes, and anything else you can think of. I will let my dad know that he can stop by here any time he needs a smile. Thanks!

You don't know me, but I lived with Jen for 2 years in college. She is an amazing woman (as I'm sure you are well aware), and I am sure her strength and character has come from her family and the support you have given her over the years. Now that it is your time for support, I am thankful that you have someone like Jen by your side.

You are in my prayers.

John, I was looking through some old photos the other day and it really brought back old memories. We've all changed so much over the years. Life has a way of throwing obsticales at us everyday, and those obsticales help us grow as individuals. You are an inspiration to all of us. No matter what obsticales life throws your way, you endure and continue to grow as a person. You are in our thoughts and prayers everyday. With All our Love, Linda and Bob

A man walking across a field encountered a tiger. He fled, the tiger chasing after him. Coming to a cliff, he caught hold of a wild vine and swung himself over the edge. The tiger sniffed at him from above. Terrified the man looked down to where, far below, another tiger had come, waiting to eat him. Two mice, one white and one black, little by little began to gnaw away at the vine. The man saw a luscious strawberry near him. Grasping the vine with one hand, he plucked the strawberry with the other. How sweet it tasted! I read this zen parable every time life seems to be bearing down on me. It reminds me to always stop and look for that strawberry. John, I knew from the instance that I met you that you were someone I would want to call my friend. And how lucky am I that through your lovely daughter I can call you my family! Billy and I hope that every day you are able to find baskets full of sweet strawberries!!! Love, Jenny and Billy

Haven't talked to ya for awhile. Cool webpage. I'm still in Flowables plugging away in the ASC spot. I thought I'd drop a message to ya and say hey, so "hey" I remember flying with ya up to Iowa City for lunch. That was quite cool, I did and still do appreciate that. Keep the chip up and be you.

Hey dad. I always knew that you were a strong man, but you have proved your strength through this battle with cancer. Each day that I watch you fight for your life means more to me than you'll ever know. Brad and I pray for you every single day and thank God for healing you. I love you dad...so very much!...and each moment I spend with you is very special to me. You will always hold a special place in my heart. I know that my moving out of state is hard on everyone but I can see in your eyes just how hard it is on you. I am so thankful that you will be with me on my wedding day to "give me away"...although I will be your daughter forever...never forget that! You are in my prayers, Dad...and I love you!

Hi John~
I lived next to your daughter a couple years in college and met you a few times over the years. One of the things I love about your daughter is her continual optimism and strength and I know she garnishes a lot of that from strong family relationships. And really, isn't that what matters the most? You guys are in my thoughts and prayers.

The first time I went to your house with Jen, you told me about an infamous fishing trip. You were joking that you were going to drown me with the anchors. Jen and Michelle came down the next morning and said they were going shopping, so I was stuck alone to go fishing. I survived that fishing trip, and now 5 years later, I am married to your beautiful daughter. That reminds me, we have yet to take Brad! We'll see how he turns out. Looking forward to taking you out soon on "my lake."

We're just wondering how you're doing and how the family is doing. Sorry I missed you at work the day you stopped in. I was on 3-11 and you left just before I got to work. Myron said that you had a nice visit with everyone. I've been wanting to go fishing but the river is not cooperating with all this flooding. Also, have grandson baseball games for JoEllen and I to attend all weekends this summer. Things at work are pretty much the same with us preparing for summer inspections. No new news here, just wanted to touch base with you and see how things are going.

Take care and keep in touch,
Your friends,
