When I moved back to the States from Costa Rica I was determined to learn how to write webpages. You see, growing up before computers, it was difficult to jump in and learn all there was to know, but then I found Squidoo. From barely knowing how to turn on the computer to over 250 pages or as they are known here on Squidoo, lenses, I have learned so much. Now I not only know how to make webpages but I am learning affiliate marketing as well.

But how did I learn how to arrange pictures, get traffic to my pages and make money from the Internet? It was simple. I joined Squidoo. It's free, easy and best of all you can even make money from writing about what you are most passionate about. That is what affiliate marketing is all about.

Squidooers are friendly, helpful people and many of us are homeschoolers. Whenever you get stuck or just have a question there are always people around to help.

Squidoo helps me promote my Homeschool Unit Studies

When I joined Squidoo, I discovered that there was so much more to writing webpages than just computer code. There is the delight in finding great deals on sites such as Amazon and offering these great deals to a growing fan base. Bananagrams, for example, is the best selling item in Toys right now and it was just marked down from $15 to less than $12.50. How do I know this? Because I joined Squidoo.

When I find great deals through affiliate marketing on Amazon I use these materials to create fun, hands-on learning activities and unit studies. In this case I created a unit study about bananas. What kind of unit study could you create?

When I first joined Squidoo I wrote a lens about a wonderful unit study that I had developed during my years of teaching in public schools, private schools and as a homeschooling mom. That lens, Frog Unit Study: Hopping to Learn now sells items from Amazon each month and has been on the top 100 Squidoo lens list for well over three years. Over 124,000 visitors have visited the frogs and this page has a 6% click through rate. I didn't even know what a click through rate was a couple of years ago. One of my passions is history. My ancestors have been in America since before the Revolution and in researching my family I began to create a unit study about one of the most fascinating periods in US history. By publishing my unit study on Garner Rix and what life was like at the time of the Royalton Raid of 1780 teachers have written me to say that their children are now enthusiastically studying history in a creative, hands-on way. By joining Squidoo I was able to promote my passion for teaching.

You see, I collect teaching materials and combine them to fun create homework kits of books, games and activities to help children continue their work on early literacy skills while at home. I study these lenses to see just what it is that makes them so attractive in order to improve my own lenses.     I have now been on Squidoo for almost 40 months. Learnt a lot but still have much to learn. I do not get involved with any of the other off-shots because I am not interested in money. Really, I am not. I simply like writing lenses and hope to entertain others. I am looking for accolades but I am not looking for money. Hope others will look at my lensography and find something that they might be intertested in.
