Moonlight and Valentino (1995)
Let me be honest because there's no point calling a movie great just because a rock-star has a role to play in it. "Moonlight and Valentino" was an 'okay' movie. While most critics tore it apart for being loose and dull, it did have a story and, well, Whoopi Goldberg. I won't say this is a 'must have' but as you can tell from the clip below, Jon Bon Jovi did not seem to do a very bad job. The movie gets a 4 out of 10.

The Leading Man (1998)
I will give "The Leading Man" a stronger recommendation over "Moonlight and Valentino" because of a plot that is more focused. Jon Bon Jovi plays a leading role in this one and is able to assert himself as a talented actor. Love, seduction, drama with a tinge of comedy; this movie has it all. The movie gets a 6 out of 10 from me. Do watch it!

Jon Bon Jovi - Destination Anywhere - The Film (1997)

Jon Bon Jovi gets a very high-profile co-star in "Destination Anywhere". Demi Moore plays wife to Jovi's character in a movie that is full of sorrow and despair. The film revolves around an alcoholic couple (Jovi and Moore) struggling to come to terms with the loss of their daughter and is an off-shoot of Jon Bon Jovi's second solo-album also titled 'Destination Anywhere'. It is a short film and tests Jovi's ability to emote as an actor. The result: he passes well and the movie scores 6 out of 10! Unfortunately, no DVD for this movie is available but if you still have a video-cassette player that is in working condition, I've linked a VHS version of the film via Amazon. The album that inspired this film is a great buy too; don't miss it.

Jon Bon Jovi Plays a Bartender in "Little City"
Little City (1998)
If you're not one for the seriousness of "Destination Anywhere", then you will probably prefer "Little City". Jon Bon Jovi plays a womanizing bartender in this romantic comedy and does a fairly decent job. The film deals with broken relationships, infidelity, indecision and the discovery of new love (to put it all in a nutshell) in a light-hearted way. It isn't the best in the genre of comedies but it's not a bad choice if you want to plug some free time watching Jon Bon Jovi act. The movie gets an average 5 out of 10!

Jon Bon Jovi has a 'part' to play in the 1998 movie, "Homegrown" but the role is not as prominent as some of the other films he has acted in. The movie, on the other hand, is a comedy that tickles and even though the marijuana-related storyline leaves room for controversy, it is an entertainer that is worth watching. Billy Bob Thornton and John Lithgow are the big guns in the movie and I'm going to give it a 6 out of 10.

No Looking Back (1998)
Jon Bon Jovi plays Michael in the understated drama "No Looking Back". The movie wasn't big when it released in 1998 but neither was it as bad as the money it made. The main character, Claudia, played by Lauren Holly, is a waitress caught in a tangle of love and is found desperately trying to discover her identity - an identity that is larger than her 'small' world. Jon Bon Jovi, her fiancé in the film, faces a predicament when her ex-boyfriend suddenly shows-up and steals his thunder. Jovi puts on a stellar performance for a rock-artist and adds value to his role. If you're in the mood for some drama and consider yourself a fan of Jon Bon Jovi, you can't miss this! I score it a 7 out of 10.

Jon Bon Jovi Has the Lead Role in "Row Your Boat"
Row Your Boat (2000)
Jon Bon Jovi does very well for a rock-star in the independently released movie, "Row Your Boat". First released on home video in 1998, the film revolves around the life of an ex-convict named Jamey Meadows (played by Jon Bon Jovi) who has been released from prison and is making every effort to resurrect his chaotic and crime-infested life back to normalcy. Jovi hogs the spotlight in this one and holds his own along side co-stars Bai Ling and William Forsythe. I give this movie 7 out of 10 and a big thumbs up to Jon Bon Jovi for doing a lot of justice to a role that is challenging because it's so cliche!

U-571 (2000)
Acting alongside the likes of Bill Paxton and Matthew McConaughey, Jon Bon Jovi puts on an incredible performance as lieutenant Lieutenant Pete Emmett in the WW2 based submarine movie, "U-571". While he isn't featured in a big way unlike some of his previous projects as an actor, he proves to be a convincing actor as much as he is a rock star. "U-571" was released in 2000. It is an excellent movie with a lot of action and drama but I'll score it 7 out of 10 only because it falls short in bringing Jon Bon Jovi to the forefront as an actor in a lead role.
Jon Bon Jovi's latest movie "New Year's Eve" will be released on December 7th.
