Small town Americana at its finest!
Small town Americana at its finest!
We came to this quaint small Minnesotan town, after living on the fringes of Downtown St. Paul, our capital city. It was an interesting experience adapting to city life, after living in the suburbs all my life and I'm glad I had the opportunity to say that I tried it.
Our journey for a creative space landed us in the car, driving around the beautiful State of Minnesota. Sometimes we feel like Oliver and Lisa Douglas of Green Acres fame...keep Manhattan, just give me that countryside.
We now find ourselves in a 1865 Jordan Brick building in beautiful downtown Jordan, Minnesota. Just far enough away, but close enough to visit.
There is an amazing cast of characters, in this small town and we are blessed that we were welcomed with open arms.
We hope you enjoy learning more about our little jewel.

- The Land of 10,000 lakes.
Minnesota became a state in 1858; the 32nd state in the union. People first came to Minnesota during the last ice age. They probably followed herds of large game into this area. - What's Hotdish?
- Hotdish is any of a variety of casserole dishes popular in the Midwest of the United States and especially in Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota, and South Dakota.

Scott County
A Southern Minnesotan Jewel
Scott County is a mixed rural/suburban county in the Twin Cities metropolitan area. The county consists of the cities of Belle Plaine, Jordan, Elko New Market, New Prague, Prior Lake, Savage and Shakopee and Belle Plaine, Blakeley, Cedar Lake, Credit River, Helena, Jackson, Louisville, New Market, St. Lawrence, Sand Creek, and Spring Lake townships. Scott County is one of the fastest growing counties in the state of Minnesota, having increased from 55% since 1990. Scott County is 365 square miles and is bounded on the west and north by the Minnesota River. The Minnesota River had supported the county's fur trading, lumbering, and farming industries in the 1800's. Today Scott County enjoys a growing mix of commercial, industrial, and housing development, yet maintains a rural flavor. Scott County is the home to several historical, scenic, and entertainment destinations including Canterbury Park, Murphy's Landing, Elko Speedway, Mystic Lake Casino, the Renaissance Festival, and ValleyFair Amusement Park ... something for everyone!www.explorejordan.org

Everyone loves Sven & Ole
Two young men from up in Minnesooooota were looking at a Sears catalog and admiring the models.Ole says to Sven 'Have you seen the beautiful girls in this catalog?
'Sven replies, 'Yes, they are very beautiful. And look at the price!' Ole says, with wide eyes, 'Wow, they aren't very expensive. At this price, I'm buying one.
'Sven smiles and pats him on the back. 'Good idea! Order one and if she's as beautiful as she is in the catalog, I will get one too.'
Three weeks later, Sven asks his friend Ole, 'Did you ever receive the girl you ordered from the Sears catalog?'
Ole replies, 'No, but it shouldn't be long now. I got her clothes yesterday!'

- Jordan sounds like a delightful town. I know what small towns are like! I just moved from a small SC town of 3,000 to St. Louis -- the contrast between small town living and big city living is amazing! Thanks for the introduction to Jordan, MN.
