What's In A Name?

Let me tell you how we picked Joshua's name!

You see that guy over there? That's my great-great-great grandaddy, Joshua Felix Broyles. (He fought in the Civil War!) We found out about him when we were doing genene- genoli- um... when we were looking up stuff about our family history. We saw his name, and knew right away that it was a good one!

Joshua comes from the Hebrew Yehoshua ("Yehowah is [our] salvation"), and Felix is Latin for "blessed" or "lucky" — so his name kinda means "Yehowah is our blessed salvation"... which is true, and pretty cool at the same time!

Still, we think "Joshua" is a bit too common, and we don't want him to be stuck with being called Josh all his life. That's where the nicknames come in: Joshua's been called "Bubber Guy," "Bubsie," "Bubba," and even "Shu Fe (JoSHUa FElix), the Littlest Ninja"!

Nicole and I just can't get enough of our "Bubber Guy," and here's the movies to prove it!

Not-So-Fun Stuff

There's a chance Joshua could develop Alport Syndrome when I grow up, so I've added his lens to the Kidney Dialysis Support Group here at Squidoo. I want to be connected to others who are going through things he might have to deal with later in life.
