Josquin des Prez, a Franco-Flemish composer
Josquin wrote both sacred and secular music. His works included all of the significant vocal forms of the age, which included masses, motets, chansons and instrumental compositions, and motet-chansons.
Some of his most famous masses included his Missa L'homme arme super voces musicales; Missa L'homme arme sexti toni; and Missa pange lingua.
Some of his most famous motets included his setting of the Miserere and his two settings of the De Profundis.
Some of his most famous chansons included his Nymphes des bois/Requiem aeternam; Mille regretz; Plus nulz regretz; and Je me complains.
Little is known of the details of Josquin's life. However, he is widely regarded as being the first master of the high Renaissance style of polyphonic vocal music.
