The Journal Jar

Have you ever heard of the journal jar? Journal jar is where you get a question prompt and you answer it. Normally people use it to write journal entries, but I use it to help write stories. This I learned about when I was away at school.

Where Did I Hear About the Journal Jar?

Back when I was away at college, I had taken a few creative writing class. We used the Journal jar as a writing exercise to help us create short stories. Because we had a time limit, the stories typically were not finished. Since you will be doing it on your own, there is no limit on how long it takes to write your story so let your imagination take flight. You will never know what will come out.

What Do I Propose?

Either each week or each month, I plan on putting up a new question and you can either write a journal entry or write a story based off the question. If you write a story, I hope to hear from you. I've opened up a website called writer's workshop. The forums are located on New Horizon Spaces chat, but we do have our own section to discuss what we write about in privacy if we want. My hope with that place is for all writers to be able to share their work and help each other out.
