Whether you're into journal writing, personal blog writing, family history writing or creative writing there will come a day when you find yourself staring at a blank page stumped by the dreaded writers block.
When this happens with my journal writing I find one of the most useful ways to get the words flowing again is to use some journal writing prompts.

Journal Prompts - Community Service

- What does the term Community Service mean to you? Does it conjure up ideas of forced service to the community, the result of a court sentence for the guilty to perform community service hours as a penance? Or is it more like a leisurely Saturday morning sizzling sausages at the local Apex or Lions club charity fundraiser? Perhaps it's volunteer time spent chatting with residents of a nearby nursing home?
- Do you currently get involved in any community service projects? Have you volunteered your time for a good cause in the past? If you haven't, would you consider doing so in the future or not? For what reasons?
- Imagine that everyone in your city or town was now required by law to perform a minimum of 3 hours community service per month. What would your reaction be? Would you be pleased? Unhappy? Worried? What sort of activity would you choose to do?

What I'm Currently Reading ...
Creative Journal Writing: The Art and Heart of Reflection
Amazon Price: $3.99 (as of 02/13/2012)![]()
I found this book at our local library and am three-quarters of the way through reading it. I've found it to be a great kick-start to my journaling, reminding me of different styles of journaling I can try out and providing a large number of exploratory exercises and prompts. The final pages of the book contain the author's key principles for journaling, some key hints and a great resource list of 125 journal writing topics or prompts to write about.
This would be a great book for anyone new to journaling, but also to those like me who've been journaling for long time and need to freshen things up a bit. The exercises and prompts will push you to go deeper than you may do normally, but the end result is well worth it. The author's writing style is encouraging and very easy to follow. Definitely a fave for me!
Love to hear from you!
Did you find this collection useful? Do you have a resource which should be added? Leave a few words below to let me know :-)
