Michael Joseph Jackson (August 29, 1958 - June 25, 2009) was also known as the King of Pop. The seventh child of the Jackson family, he made his debut onto the professional music scene at the age of 11 as a member of The Jackson 5 in 1969, then began a solo career in 1971 while still a member of the group.His world's best-selling records are Off the Wall (1979), Bad (1987), Dangerous (1991) and HIStory (1995). 1958 

Michael Joseph Jackson was born in Gary, Indiana on August 29th, 1958. The son of African-American parents Joseph Walter "Joe" Jackson and Katherine Esther from the seventh of nine children.

1964 

The beginning of Michael Jackson's career in entertainment. He joined the Jackson Brothers and the group's name was changed to The Jackson 5.

1969 

The moment of success for Jackson Five with the single hits "I Want You Back", "ABC", "The Love You Save" and "I'll Be There" and being number one in Billboard Hot 100

1975 

The group was renamed as The Jacksons. The band started the international tours and releasing six more albums between 1976 and 1984. The young Michael Jackson was the lead songwriter of the group and successfully writing a few hits.

1978 

Starting his solo album Off the wall jointly produced with Quincy Jones. The songwriters are Michael Jackson, Heatwave's Rod Temperton, Stevie Wonder and Paul McCartney. Off the Wall has been certified for 7 million shipments in the US and sold over 20 million copies worldwide.

1980

The beginning of new life for Michael Jackson. His album Thriller surprisingly remained in the top 10 of the Billboard 200 for 80 consecutive weeks and becoming the best-selling album of all time with 109 millions copies.

1984 

Michael Jackson suffered second degree burns to his scalp after pyrotechnics accidentally set his hair on fire while filming a Pepsi Cola commercial at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles. He received $1.5 million settlement from Pepsi, but the settlement was generously donated to Brotman Medical Center in Culver City, California.



A few months after the burn, Michael Jackson was invited to the White House to receive an award presented by U.S. President Ronald Reagan. The award was given for his support of charities that helped people overcome alcohol and drug abuse.

1987 

The "Bad" album was released and sold 30 million copies worldwide.Michael Jackson broke a Guinness World Record when 504,000 people attended in seven shows at Wembley Stadium. And another Guinness World Record for his grossed $125 million from his 123 concerts.

1988 

Moon Walk was released as his first autobiography and being best seller. Soon after the released of his autobiography, he purchased land near Santa Ynez, California to build Neverland Ranch at a cost of $17 million. The 2,700-acre property had Ferris wheels, a menagerie, a movie theater and 40 security staffs patrolled the grounds.

1989 

This is the year when Michael Jackson received his title as King of Pop from Elizabeth Taylor when she presented Jackson with an "Artist of the Decade" award.

1991 

Michael Jackson released his eighth album Dangerous with his hits "Black or White" and "Remember the Time". The album sold 32 million copies worldwide.

1992 

Jackson founded the "Heal the World Foundation". The foundation also sent millions of dollars around the globe to help children threatened by war and disease. Through this foundation too, Michael Jackson allowed underprivileged children to play on his theme park rides in Neverland

1994 

Michael Jackson married with the daughter of Elvis Presley, Lisa Marie Presley.

1995 

History was released during this year. One of the song was "Scream" as a duet with his sister Janet Jackson.

1995 

He divorced with Lisa Marie Presley

1996 

His second married with a dermatologist nurse Deborah Jeanne Rowe. In this married, he fathered a son Michael Joseph Jackson, Jr or also known as Prince Jackson and a daughter, and a daughter, Paris Michael Katherine Jackson.

1999 

He divorced with Deborah Jeanne Rowe and received full custody of the children

2002 

Michael Jackson's third child, Prince Michael Jackson II, also known as Blanket, was born. The mother's identity was never released by Jackson, but he has said the child was the result of artificial insemination from a surrogate mother and his own sperm cells.

2006 

The closure of the main house on the Neverland Ranch as a cost-cutting measure. It's the sign of financial problem for Michael Jackson

2009 

On June 25, 2009, Jackson collapsed at his rented mansion on North Carolwood Drive in the Holmby Hills area of Los Angeles. The paramedics was informed that he had cardiac arrest and pronounced dead at approximately 2:26 pm local time.

Scandals 

1993
Michael Jackson was accused of child sexual abuse by a 13-year-old child named Jordan Chandler and his father Evan Chandler. $22 million worth of settlement received by the Chandler's family.

2002
Jackson brought his new born son onto the balcony of his hotel room in Berlin, Adlon Hotel. Holding him in his right arm, with a cloth loosely draped over the baby's face. He briefly extended the baby over the railing of the balcony, where the room located at four stories above ground level.

2003
Law suit filed by Sotheby auction house because he had not paying two paintings in worth of $1.7 million.
