About Me

This lens is a little different than what I normally do in that it is all about me. I will tell you what makes me tick, what I have going on in my lenses. Even some of what I believe about life in these United States.

My name is Joe Tedesco, and I started doing lenses thinking I was going to make money. And though I have made a little...ok, very little, my goals have changed dramatically. Making money is no longer my only goal. Making lenses is what it is all about. Good, quality lenses that people can look at and say, "Wow, that was really something." I like to see them come together to become something either informative or maybe even entertaining.

I find I am making them now based on my interests, not what I think people will buy. And it is a lot of fun doing it that way. I spend a long time on any one given lens and now I find myself with multiple lenses. It has become a commitment on my part to maintain them, to watch them climb the rankings...or fall if I don't tweak them every few days or so.

One of my greatest passions is writing, and though I know I am becoming better at it, I recognize that it is an area where there will always be room for improvement, no matter who you are. I have begun to write four stories, (yes, begun) and for one reason or another have yet to finish, or continue any of them. It is a definite weak-spot in my development as a writer that I do not finish what I start.

Some day I want to do a huge lens on many of the books I've read, writing carefully what they meant to me or what I thought the author may have been saying about things. Many times authors have much to say about current events-in the real world-with out saying a word about them.

I haven't tackled that yet because I need more practice before I take on something of that magnitude.

Something else I have taken on is school. I began my third education in February of 08. Naturally, after 25 years of being out of school I have things I need to relearn; like Algebra, English, and I guess some Science too. Then I will began my bachelor degree in Computer Science, or Information management systems, or something like that.
It has been interesting to say the least to be back at school after all these years. I know it's a little late in the game but everyone that's important in my life tells me it isn't too late so...Now I go to Monroe Community College near Rochester, NY.

I have passions. I mean, we all have passions, but mine are what I really want to make this page about. I'll just list them as I go along with this lens. Most of my lenses are on what I either like to do, or am interested in. There are links to all my other lenses below. Enjoy!

Truth

You can't fight evil, if you don't recognize and name evil for what it is!

Are you happy with the election results?

Okay, it is all over; the votes are in and the winner is Barrack Obama. But has the country won? I for one say yes, at least in one respect; we have finally gotten over the ridiculous notion that only white guys can lead... stupid!

But can this guy lead? It doesn't matter what color he is, as long as he has the best interests of my country at heart. And not according to his, or his political party's design. It doesn't matter which side of the political isle he stands. If he can't be objective and think outside the box, he shouldn't be there, period!

Will it matter much?

Now that the election is over?

If recent history has taught us anything, I think the biggest lesson is that those who have been sent to Washington on our behalf have their own agenda at the forefront of their collective minds and most decidedly not what is best for this country.

But is that true of the president as well? We all know that the president wasn't elected simply because "America has spoken." President Barrack Obama owes a lot of people favors. As he began his presidency, Barrack Obama surrounded himself, for the most part, with former Clintonites as his cabinet members. He even took Tom Daschle out of moth balls to install him as the HHS (Health and Human Services Secretary).

But a funny thing happened to Daschle (depending on how you look at it) on the way to the White House to be taken into the fold. The money he "forgot" to pay his taxes with was flying out of the trunk of the car he was suppose to be paying said taxes for. Wait, do I detect a pattern here? Is this the second person to have a "tax issue" or the third? I lose track, but not to worry; Bill O'Reilly is "Looking out for me" now, and I found out from him that the guy in charge of the treasury, Mr. Timothy Geithner also has had tax issues in the recent past.

What does all this have to President Obama? Well, other than the fact that he selected these "knickleheads" (how about that play on words) he is standing so close to the fan, that there is no way he can avoid being splattered with all the... mess that will surely come from the debacle that will be the so-called stimulus bill. God help us! Because the knickleheads in Washington surely aren't going to.

Mike & Mike in the morning.

What makes them different, makes them great. (Mike & Mike motto)

I started listening to Mike & Mike in 2003 or 2004. I honestly can't remember the exact year. But right away I got the feeling that these two guys really liked each other's company. Of course they have a job to do and they both do it well. But recent commercials have played up the fact that the two hang out "off mike."

Either way, Mike & Mike is such a funny show for so many reasons, not the least of which, is how they rip on each other. Greeny is the metro-sexual who leaves a movie theater during a particularly freaky part of When a stranger calls. Golic is the former NFL player who acts the part and rips Greeny for being in touch with his feminine side. The show and the marketing of it is brilliant, and I look forward to watching or listening to it when ever I can.
Mike & Mike throw out first pitch in Cleveland.
The first time Mike & Mike threw out the first pitch, they did it in Chicago's Wrigley Field, and Golic bounced his pitch. He stated he thought it was because he was so focused on throwing a real pitch that he jacked the whole thing up. Hey, even pros bounce one now and again right?

This time, Golic was determined to throw it correctly, while Greeny just wanted to (at least) reach the plate. So lets go to the tape, as they say shall we, and see how things work out for the guys, and especially Golic.
What the Frak is Going On? | Videos | SCI FI Video
For more than four years I've wanted to take the time to watch Battlestar Galactica, but I always seemed to have something else going on. Until one day about a month ago I pressed the select button on my remote and changed the channel to ScifiHD and bam, I was hooked.

It isn't exactly like it was back in the day when I watched the original Galactica Series, in many ways it is better; the human-like Cylons put a whole new twist to the story. As a kid I don't remember human-like Cylons. I just remember the trader Boltar. And of course I remember Lorne Green as Adama, Richard Hatch as Captain Apollo, and Dirk Benedict as Lt Starbuck. The women on the original series did a lot more for me than the current crew, but what did I know, I was 14 years old and I'm sure I missed a lot of episodes.

However, the new series does have the new wordFrak, as in "What the frak? Yeah, you guessed it. Frak is a euphemism for that word. But at least they don't say sectons or what ever other bizarre words they used to use. But I loved the way the cylons talked. So far I haven't heard them say boo in this new version. They look and act like drones to me.

TAGFOOT!

The "New (bookmarking) Kid" on the block!

Why do we need another bookmark site you may ask? The answer is easier than you might think. Because you know, every once in a while these really amazing sites pop up that deserve a little extra attention. There are more than several reasons why I think Tagfoot is one of those sites. And I would NEVER be able to do the site justice here. It would take me a week just to research it enough for that. Tagfoot is so versatile that it boggles the gray matter.

I can tell you this: no matter what it is you want to save; music, video, pictures, or just plain old sites that you want to create backlinks to like blogs or monetization sites you may have, Tagfoot can do it. Not to mention AdSense is available for your Tagfoot site also.
Tagfoot
Tagfoot is a bookmark site on steroids. Plain and simple.

Military News

Current news from the U.S military; news from around the world that is happening now.
I am a big defender of our military, having been there and done that for 10 years between the Corps and the Army... with one year in Iraq with the 4th Infantry Division in 2003.

There is much good that happens in Iraq & Afghanistan, but I recognize that not everything that has transpired in those two theaters of operation has been, shall we say, rosy. Some of it has been down right catastrophic. Especially for the Iraqi and Afghani people who have either lost their lives or their livelihoods in the wake of these two wars.

I know war is hell, to borrow the tired old cliche', but sometimes it is worse than it has to be because of choices people make thousands of miles away in an office somewhere far removed from flying bullets and exploding IED's. But the leaders we have in America aren't the only ones who have made some of those crappy decisions. They have been made all over the world by leaders of many different countries who's decisions aren't always so under the microscope as ours are.

We do more for the African continent than any other country on the planet but you will not hear about that any where because that would give credit where credit is due; the Bush Administration.

All you will hear about is torture, Guantanamo Bay, Iraq, the Patriot Act, blah, blah, blah. But I promise you, history will see this president differently than how people are describing him now! Remember, you saw it here, and I do not say that arrogantly, because I do not believe I am in a position to be arrogant. I just think our president has done better than people give him credit for based on the "whole" picture.

Please, before you leave this lens, at least make sure you are aware of the article titled "Ex-GI to plead insanity at rape-slaying trial." of this RSS feed. It is horrible, but it is important that people are aware that this has happened, and we must claim responsibility for these soldiers acts. I was still in the Army at the time and I remember reading & being disgusted about it then.

If it were up to me, I would turn them over to the Iraqi people and tell them... do justice!

I actually have a blog!

Yeah, its only on BlogSpot, but when you can't afford a monthly thing, you do what you can do. I've been kind of putting this off really because you can't really do your own thing with these types of weblog's
A Game of Thrones and Historical Events: A Parallel
In this blog I discuss the possible parallels between portion's of George R. R. Martin's outstanding novel; A Game of Thrones, and actual historical events. I do not presume to say that he used historical events as a basis for his work.
Joe Tedesco's blog
This is my first entry in my blog. It isn't always going to be about Bill O'Reilly, or even politics. It might be about sports, video games, Internet marketing, or an number of things. But it will hopefully be about things I know, and not things I just "think" I know.

That might happen anyway. Because sometimes you think you've done your research, and you miss something that someone else ultimately brings to your attention, and there you are looking rather foolish, with egg all over your face, saying to yourself, "Damn!"

In that case though, all you can do, is come out, make the correction, and move on. I will do that, like a big boy. Heck, I've had to do that already on one of my lenses. And I posted the correction like a lens module right under the "Table of Contents," and left it there for a solid week. It was painful, and I couldn't wait to take it down, but I did it and I think I was better for it. Thankfully, I was the one who found the error in my own work, but I posted the correction anyway.

Well, there you have it. I will post a blog when I want to and I will update this lens here with it.

The flip-flopping president
Read the two statements below, and then think about what is common between them:

1.) In a speech to a pro-Israel lobby group last June 4th, President Obama spoke to the American Israel Public Affairs Council (AIPAC). President Obama said this. Jerusalem "will remain the capital of Israel, and it must remain undivided."

Wow, that says it all right? No need to second guess what he is telling them there... but wait.
In an interview July 12, 2008 with Fareed Zakaria:

2.) "We don't want barbed wire running through Jerusalem, similar to the way it was prior to the '67 war," Obama explained.

Obama said the latter statement in response to Fareed Zakaria's insertion that Obama was outside the International consensus that, evidently everyone else in the international community wants to take Jerusalem, split it in half, giving the Palestinians one side and leaving the other side to Israel.

Alright, so the commonality is that President Obama said both statements. But he is smooth, and his questioners allowed him to wiggle out of his flip-flopping because they are biased toward him. There is no other conclusion here. It is the modus operandi of most of America's media, and what will continually bail this president out of hot water again and again through out his reign.

The only problem I see with the grand consensus Zakaria spoke of is this, Israel is a sovereign nation. It is not up to outsiders whether or not Israel split their capital in half for anyone, regardless how contentious the issue may be. Or how strong (tongue in cheek) someone might think their argument might be in favor of this ridiculous idea.

What about this little tidbit? I don't remember reading anything in my history books about France recommending we split Virginia in half in 1863 during our Civil War because some wanted to keep slavery and some didn't.

Look, I know the U.S. sticks it's big, nosy nose in too many world-wide issues. The thing is, if we didn't, nations like France, Germany, Russia, China, and yes, Britain would run rough shod over the world, dictating what will and will not be within the boundaries of other sovereign nations. And yes, this goes for the United States as well. But answer this question honestly to yourself; who in the world is going to face down, or halt Iran if and when they decide to launch on Israel, besides Israel herself I mean? Russia, China? Please! They are both in bed with Iran and their nuclear program, along with North Korea, and we all know Pyongyang isn't going to come out in any kind of rational way. They've helped Iran as well.

I certainly don't have all the answers to the world's ills, but sticking our collective noses into Israel's sovereignty will get us no where, unless more war is a place we want to be. Believe it or not, as an American, I do not want war.

If siding with, or standing against Israel is the option, I am on Israel's side in this situation. After all, God Himself said in Genesis 12:3, "I will bless those who bless you,(here comes the kicker) and whoever curses you (emphasis mine) I will curse; and all peoples on earth shall be blessed through you."(NIV) And no I am not a bible scholar or a self-righteous religious person.

But I do know some of the bible, and I remember something Jesus said to the Pharisees after he drove out a demon from some guy. In case you are not aware of who the Pharisees were, they were the big-wigs in the Jewish religious world back in the day. They were the "Dividers" of the people when it came to Jesus too. They saw the danger he represented to the status-quo. He answered them in Mathew 12:25 in this way: "A kingdom divided against itself will be ruined, and every city or household divided against itself will not stand."

Wasn't it Abraham Lincoln, Obama's "favorite" president who had the famous House Divided Speech? Lincoln spoke of a different situation than what I am speaking of here I know, but not by much when it is all put into context.

And when it all comes down to it, isn't the "Ruin of Israel" the ultimate goal here of those who seek the division? Think about it, and be honest with yourself, if not with those you speak to on this issue.
Write about it!
An Historic Inauguration

I did not vote for President Obama, I went from very depressed to resigned, to hopeful very quickly. I am by nature a hopeful cynic if there is such a thing. I have been trying to watch things carefully as they have transpired over the past two months since the election. But I noticed a curious thing happening almost in tandem with the transition of power within the White House. With respect to Nancy Pelosi, and Harry Reid, nothing those two do really surprises me too much, but I will watch them until they have gone away from public service for ever. Reid should already be gone for his role in this financial fiasco, and any reasonable minded person knows it. The only thing wrong with Pelosi is she wants President Obama's job. Barring that, she'll take the power, she want's that for it's own sake.

If you are wondering what those two have to do with the 44th President of the United States? Well, they are members of his party. Though I think he may be worrying them a little over the past few weeks to a couple of months. I hope he continues to do just that, and I don't mean that because I want him to be George Bush or anyone other than President Barrack H. Obama. I know he is considered a progressive president, and I'm a conservative guy. But does that mean I can't cheer for him. Does that mean I can't pray or hope for him? And again, I am not hoping or praying that he all of a sudden gets an epiphany from "on high" and decides national health care is not a good idea, or taxing over $250, 000.00 sounds a bit low. Or maybe he'll start pushing for drilling for oil this weekend off the coast of Florida.

I don't expect any of those things; though drilling for our own oil would be about the smartest thing we could possibly do while we are getting into the alternative fuel business. It could help to kick-start our ailing economy and keep the wolves from other parts of the world sucking us dry of our money at the pumps. I know the Global Warming alarmists love to sound the clangor when someone says the words drill and oil in the same breath.

But I know President Obama is a smart and patriotic man, just as the president he follows. I know he has America's best interests at heart, and his Presidential Inauguration speech today he was very inspiring even to me, someone who, as I said, didn't vote for him. Yes there were things I shook my head at or maybe even had a slight frown on my brow about, but who agrees with everything someone says anyway? I agreed with probably 95% of what he said. And now I will hope and pray that he will be able to ward off the wolves right here at home on both sides of the political isle.

One thing is for sure however, he won't have the media to worry about like George Bush did. Most of the media in this country are completely in the tank for anyone on the left, but especially for our new president. Heck, I myself am looking for a reason to be in his corner too, but I won't just jump there because everyone else is. I will watch our president carefully, and especially... hopefully.
The UN-american president
Recently President Barrack Obama went on a European "popularity tour" to tell the world how much he can't stand America either. Of course, he was only doing what the liberal media, Acorn, and his presidential campaign backers paid him to do; that is, bring America down where she belongs.

During his inauguration I held out hope that Obama wouldn't completely tear apart the United States, but alas the new president began his dismantling of America within his first week.

I know what the Obama's supporters (or should I say his apologists) will say, "President Obama has been doing all he can to bring America out of the dole drums that the Bush administration brought us down to." All I can say to that is, "pull this one, it plays jingle bells."

Is this the "change I can believe in?" That the president has shown over and over that he hates America, and true, hard-working Americans... oh, and everything we have stood for, for more than two hundred years? Because if that is it, the message has sunk in, very deep. Only a president with roots steeped in anti-Americanism would go to Europe and kowtow to the likes of the french & germans (no, I will not capitalize it).

And to actually be able to stand there and say, "without equivocation or exception that the United States of America does not and will not torture." (The Humbling of a Superpower, by Nile Gardiner, Human Events.com) Are you kidding me? How does Obama expect us to get information from dangerous terrorists, ask nicely? Besides all that, and like Gardiner says, "As if Obama's own country had been some sort of brutal tyranny that had suddenly seen the light with his election." And he had the gall to accuse America of arrogance?

How much "play" is the left trying to get out of this so called issue? The Abu Ghraib incident is almost five (5) years old people, and when the left harps on it constantly as a means to their false agenda's, more rational, true Americans suffer for it. President Obama is smack-dab in the middle of . Three trillion plus sized budget? He signs a stimulus with almost 9000 pay offs... I mean ear marks, sorry. I was thinking of his contributors there for a minute, so I was kind of confused.

How about this international gem that our illustrious leader spewed forth; "instead of celebrating your dynamic union and seeking to partner with you to meet common challenges, there have been times when America has shown arrogance and been dismissive, even derisive."

Oh really Mr. President, when was this? Might it be that this all happened when practically the whole of Europe, (aside from our one true ally, Britain) "derisively" told us we had to allow "more than the fifteen international sanctions (that had all been dismissed by Hussein) to work against Iraq and Saddam Hussein." Or could it have been that they were all so deep in bed with Hussein during the "Food for Oil Program" that they didn't want any of that to see the light of day? The only thing they could think to do was attack our decisions. Doesn't that type of behavior sound familiar? Doesn't it resemble what the left does every time someone disagrees with what they believe?

My question is, how long is the Obama administration going to milk the Bush administration as a cop out for its failures, bad ideas and apologizing to the rest of the world. I have a feeling the likes of Obama, Pelosi, Reid, and Dodd will not be happy until this country is nothing more than an after thought to the rest of the global community. They won't be happy until they have given what money we have left, away.

And what "leading role in the world" has Europe played in the last sixty years? (The Humbling of a Superpower, by Nile Gardiner, Human Events.com) Other than the race to socialism I mean? Please don't try their "universal health care" on me, because that is so not what we want here.

President Obama apologized for American arrogance and dismissiveness, and he said again something about us not being a Christian country, but one of moral, hard working people." Of course all those things may be true, but he refuses to accept the fact that 85% of Americans consider themselves Christian. That is what he apologizes for, and the fact that we, as Americans, are proud of our heritage of working for what we have.

Another thing that I am NOT SORRY for is our history as a nation. I'm sure our president would fall all over himself apologizing for how we came to be one of the greatest nations in the history of the world. But at least he wouldn't be the first for that travesty. Has any other world leader ever apologized to seek approval? The irony is this; Barrack Obama heard cheers, but what most Americans heard was laughter and jeers.
GE and Hypocrycy
In March 2003 when I began the trek from Kuwait up through the heart of Iraq with my unit in the 4th Infantry Division, I had no idea about the scandal that was about to unfold in regard to Haliburton. Now, common sense and hindsight tells me that if the Vice President of the United States has something to do with a company that is making money from government contracts, then it makes for a conflict of interest and more bad press for America. But what else is new right, it seems bad press is all America can put out these days?

So lets fast forward to today; Friday, April 24, 2009. President Barrack Obama has appointed Jeff Immelt to his economic recovery advisory board, of all things. Immelt can not even advise or recover the company he runs, never mind the entire country. But this gets better; after GE stock has plunged more than 70% under Immelt's so called leadership and now GE stands to rake in "billions" under the cap and trade policy currently under consideration by the current administration.

What was it I said about common sense and conflict of interest with regard to government contracts? When the president appoints someone with a questionable (to say the least) performance record, to a position in his administration in the very area in which that individual has performed so abysmally, you have to wonder if the fix is in. Then again, all one has to do is watch the news, and there isn't much of a question as to whether the fix is in or what side most of the media is on is there? I guess the surgical removal of honesty and moral integrity must be a requirement before joining these journalistic media giants eh?

They're screaming about torture and justice these days... just wait until they are torturing Americans. Who will scream for our justice then?
Not So Funny
Yesterday, while my wife and I were in a BJ's Wholesale Club shopping, we both went our separate ways for a while and I made a "B-Line" for the books, as I always do. I noticed a book with Denis Leary holding a sparkler on the cover. I've always liked Denis Leary, now Dr. Leary, and the title farely jumped off the cover at me (which I'm sure was part of Denis's plan)... "Why We Suck." Pretty simple and straight forward.

Now I've always enjoyed Denis Leary's humor; his style and wit was engaging and forced us all to pay attention lest we miss something. The fact that he is a Red Sox fan also helped.

So there I am in BJ's reading the prologue and that is when it hit me... Denis Leary is a Pinko Liberal. Yeah, I said it. I still think he is hilarious, and he himself said in his foreword that the book would piss people off. It surprised me more than pissed me off because I would expect honesty in one's belief at least, if he is going to attack one president and praise another for his alleged great deeds, then he ought to state what the facts were as they actually were, not as he wishes they were.

Leary castigates George Bush Jr., as he calls him, yet man-crushes all over Bill Clinton despite his obvious presidential failures (and no, I am not talking about Lewinsky). Does the name Osama bin Laden ring any bells? As in, Clinton should have nailed bin Laden after the first WTC bombing. So Denis, don't tout Clinton as this big peace guy, when he is one of the earlier failures which now require the "War on Terror." Not to mention that he has something in common with our current president.

In 2000 Clinton ordered the U.S flag aboard a naval vessel dipped to that of the Vietnamese flag during a visit he made to Vietnam. Something America just did not do for Totalitarians as a rule. Commenting at the time of the report was America's most decorated living war veteran, Colonel David Hackworth, "What's new? Clinton has done everything else to dishonor the flag, why not make it number two?"

Now, in 2009, Obama all but prostrates himself in front of Saudi King Abdullah at the G20 Summit.

You know, it's one thing to have a sense of humor about all things. It's quite another to pretend to be making jokes about something, when what you are conducting, is a dishonest left-wing attack. Regardless of what the rest of the book says, Leary set the tone in the prologue!

A True American

And only 15 years old!

You know, every one to each his or her own. I really believe that. What ever it may be that floats your boat.

I myself believe strongly in showing our appreciation for our freedoms, and thanking those who fight or have fought for those freedoms. I happen to also think there are responsible ways in which we conduct ourselves as Americans.

That may sound corny, old fashioned, and out-dated, but this video by a 15 year old girl named Lizzie Palmer shows that I'm not the only one who feels this way, not that I really thought I was. But this video brought it home to me in a big way.

I think it will do the same for you.

Remember Me

Evryone keeps asking me what the music is in this video. Well now not only is it listed at the END of the video, here you go: "Pacific Wind" by Ryan Farish. As you may have seen, I turned the comments back on. If it turns into a forum for insult again, however, they WILL be turned off. Thank you very much. Thanks, Lizzie Palmer I made another U.S. Armed Forces video. I figured it was about time. =) www.operationgratitude. com (no space)

Mr. Moseby getting it "orn"

You might wonder why I would have a You Tube Video of Suite Life of Zack & Cody on my Squidoo Lens. The answer is easier than you might think.

My twelve year old daughter watches the "twin trouble-makers" religiously, and I am usually at my laptop in the living room doing my thing. Thus, I get stuck watching either that, or "Wizards of Waverly Place," or... well, you get the picture.

The point of this exercise is that as time has passed and I have been stuck watching these episodes, Mr. Moseby has emerged (to my way of thinking anyway) as an extremely talented, and funny guy. This scene isn't the first time he has stolen the show, but I think it is one of the funniest.

My sister got a groom, I got my own room

this is from the episode Poor Little Rich Girl, where Mr. Moseby was singing "My sister got a groom, I got my own room.. WHAT!"

The Miracle Marine

And other "You Must Know About" STUFF.

This is a true story about a Marine. But before he was a Marine he was a man, and before that he was a woman's son, a man's son. He was a real human being with goals, and dreams that we all have, but maybe never tell anyone.

Of course there are other things going on the world that we are all too aware of, and we all have our own opinions of them. Yeah, I have mine too. If you agree you can let me know, if you don't, that is what America is all about...freedom of expression. But lets not get carried away with telling me what you think of me personally, because I don't care, and that gets us no where.

Leave an intelligent, respectful comment and it will find its way onto my lens...other wise, it will never see the light of day.

Newt Gingrich schools MSNBC reporter on Gov. Palin!
Last night, (9/3/08) during the Republican National Convention, Newt Gingrich was approached by an MSNBC reporter, and no I don't know the poor guy's name. (which is better for him anyway)

The reporter asked about the Governor of Alaska's supposed lack of experience in regard to being qualified for the VP slot. Well, Gingrich proceeded to...well, why don't you just click on the link? I couldn't possibly do the former speaker justice, as he brings the the young upstart down a peg or two...or "ten."
Bill O'Reilly-The O'Reilly Factor
You know, in our heart of hearts we come to a place where we can't hide from truth. I don't mean what we our selves to perceive as truth, because I don't believe in relative truth. I'm talking about looking at some thing, or hearing some one speak and just knowing that what they are saying flies in the face of what every one else is saying, and you know that what you are hearing is either utter nonsense or...something else. But it can't be nonsense can it?

The person saying these things is the host of The O'Reilly Factor's, Bill O' Reilly, and he led his time slot against "all" comers on television during the DNC, which you would think folks who think Fox and O' Reilly are biased against them would steer clear. Not so during when the The Factor is on.

There are those who try to tag him with being in the tank for the Republicans, but he just smiles, as in the next email, some one else accuses him of being a Democrat sympathizer.

It is difficult to disseminate todays news and separate fact from the actual "dissemination." Especially today, in this media environment of dishonesty and misguided agendas. When most of the main stream media is obviously slanted in one particular direction, how does one find news that is not slanted? You know before you watch that what they tell you, they are telling you what they "want you to hear," whether it is about politics, global warming, or the Iraq war, so much has to be taken with a grain of salt that everything becomes suspect. You end up feeling like Mel Gibson's Jerry Fletcher in Conspiracy Theory (1997).

So how can you be sure about what is in the news?

CHECK IT! and DOUBLE CHECK IT!! If you think it is necessary.

You can be sure O'Reilly is checking his sources. And he doesn't only present one side of the proverbial coin. That is the essence of the success of The Factor. Of course, calling it the No Spin Zone makes it a scary and squirmy place for some. There have been epic battles on The Factor and most of those battles have been with far left loons, as O'Reilly would call them. He may have tension filled, or even heated conversations with those on either side, but it is the loons that drive him crazy, or make him laugh, depending on the offense.

But you must take into context the arguments against O'Reilly, and where they come from. I would say most of them come from the left, saying O'Reilly is biased for the GOP. Of course they would say that when "Anyone" questions "Anything" they do.

One of their main tactics; attack. The New York Times, Time Magazine, USA Today, the Los Angeles Times, and probably a dozen others have all gone after him at one time or another, and in his own words, just the other day on the Radio Factor he said, "Bring it on," and just in case any one might have mis understood him he annunciated each word again, "Bring-it-on."!

He isn't afraid to take on the so called big boys, or girls of the news, corporate, and political world. I guess it helps when you have the TRUTH on your side. Again, we are not talking relative truth here. When you are careful about what you are reporting, and telling only "the facts ma'am." Remember the No Spin Zone? People think that only applies to guests on the show. Bill isn't perfect by any stretch, and he will make mistakes like any other human being, but you won't see any spinning on his part either.

People accuse O'Reilly of being heavy handed with many of his guests, or at least, a bully with those who allow it. When he had a big show down with Left wing "Nut-Bag" Phil Donahue folks said O'Reilly didn't win that battle because he was yelling. They obviously don't know Bill. He yells all the time. He might just yell when he prays, I don't know. I'm not trying to disparage Mr. O'Reilly and his religious preferences, but...he yells! Either way, as far as that particular interview goes Donahue comes across with a lot of statistics of dead Americans and accusations against O'Reilly, and Bill went ballistic, just like Phil wanted him too. Except, Bill didn't lose his cool, he didn't lose his mind. He pointed out correctly, that we were taking the war on terror to the terrorists rather than fighting it here. This is a war, after all, he pointed out, and people die in war. Donahue is the one politicking by saying over and over again that Bill wants to keep sending "our boys" over there to get there arms and legs blown off.

At one point Donahue said, loud doesn't mean right. Well, soft and sickly sour, usually means rotten, and Phil Donahue stinks of it. I would say, Donahue won on the numbers, but O'Reilly beat him where it matters, "strength of conviction." And when he left I would have said see you later Philly, for all those times he said Billy during the interview like we were drinking buddies or something. But thats just me. I know there others but this blog is plenty long enough already. Besides Mr. O will be giving me plenty to write about in the days and months to come.
Facts & Myths about Drilling for oil in The U.S.
We all have an opinion on this subject. But what is it based on? Where is the foundation of that opinion? My position is not founded at the end of this link I propose for you to click on. For me...I'm sorry, but it is common sense. I simply don't buy what the other side is shoveling. So I read...a lot!

Over the next couple of days I will be including some links that will shore up this little foundation of which I speak. They may alarm the environmental alarmists out there, if they bother to check them out, and I'll probably be yelled at and called names, which will be predictable also, but then...like the ole book says; "the truth shall set you free." : John 8:32
NRCC
Before there was "Global Warming" there was "Global Cooling," but the liberal left didn't get any where with that. So they changed their tactics, and they have got a ton more mileage out of their latest scam, but I predict the curtain will come down on that too...I just hope it happens before they succeed in their real goal...power; complete and utter control of our lives, but they've run into a snag.

The gas prices have sky rocketed far sooner than they hoped and Americans aren't as docile as Europeans(see-American revolution, Civil War, the 60's, et al). We don't go quietly into that so-called good night!

After weeks of stonewalling and refusing to allow a vote on Energy legislation, Nancy Pelosi now says she will consider allowing a vote on drilling for more oil. Oh, well thank you very much Senator pelosi. Maybe it had something to do with all those Republican Congressman deciding to fore go their vacations and staying in Washington to work. And maybe it also had something to do with all those phone calls and emails sent in reference to the Energy Act you refused to hold an up or down vote on. But I could be wrong.
And, Barack Obama flipped-flopped his energy position and said he would agree to off-shore drilling.

You've responded to our call for help...and helped put the pressure on Pelosi and her liberal Democrats in Congress.

I don't pretend to know what all the answers are when it comes to what this country needs as a whole, but I think some where far right of Barrack Obama's vision of America, Michael Reagan talks about taking back the GOP.

My Current Events

It's all about me...

Here it is the middle of September, 2008. We are in the middle of an historic presidential race, and No, I am not going to get into that quagmire here. Though I have strong feelings and thoughts on the issues surrounding the times we are in, this is not the venue for it. I have other means of having my voice heard. But frankly, lately, I've been content to read, watch, and learn what I need to make the best decision I can for the good of my country, and not my own agenda, and I'll leave it at that.

I will use this area for what is happening in "My life." As this is my main Squidoo "Who am I Lens," and intricately linked to my Self-Bio Group which I started a while back.

Surprisingly, I have just under 90 people in the group and more are welcome. But Beware! This group is for folks who want to share "Who they are!" We are not interested in what you are selling. Obviously that may be part of you and can be included in the lens, but not as a sales pitch.

I've been toying with the idea of going to school for Environmental Science. For years we have been listening to the fear mongers tell us "The sky is falling, the sky is falling." And let me say right now, I even believe we need to be responsible about our environment, and all that it entails, but the far-left, nut-case environ-"mental" -ists that would have us continue to send 700 million dollars over seas a year to people who hate us is utterly ridiculous. I know there is blame to go around on this issue, but for the past twenty or thirty years, it has been the left stifling the progress of this country, and lying to us about the environment, and how we are going to "kill all the Polar Bears and melt all the glaciers." Those are all just so many talking points and cool-aid."

Now...having said all that, and I obviously do feel strongly about it, but my real passion is history. Both United States, and World History. The people and events that shaped this world, be it good or bad fascinate me and make me aware of what is happening now in a more poignant way, because we are destined to make the same mistakes we have made in the past if we do not know our history. I know someone else said that, I just don't know who. Maybe Patton, or Churchill. Either way, that is what I am faced with. the problem with the history thing is...jobs! Unless I become a history teacher (ain't happening...kids have NO respect, and teachers NO power!) A librarian? Yeah, I'd need a masters in Librarian science...are you kidding me? What is left? Thus the quandary.

My Squidoo Lenses!

Like all of you I have a lot going on. But I try to squeeze in some time to do the things I like to do. I'm on Squidoo to create things, to talk about the things I know...or I think I know, and get some feed back. Hopefully if I'm wrong about something, someone will have the class to tell me in a way that won't have me jumping off a bridge...just kidding, wouldn't happen. Any way, this is me...in a lens!
The Boston Redsox
If ESPN were to do a survey of the five most memorable baseball games ever, I would bet my house that one of those spots would have a game in which the Boston Redsox played. In fact it would probably be either the 1975 game 6 World Series...
The Redsox vs Yankees Rivalry Is The Best In Sports
The Redsox vs Yankees Rivalry Is The Best In Sports This is so easy, it's like taking candy from a Yankee fan. Does the year 2004 mean anything to anyone? Remember Jason Varitek putting the smack down on A-Rod? Of course that is just one example...
John F Kennedy
John Kennedy should have just stayed in bed that day in November 1963. That would have been the only way for him to avoid the headsman's axe, if you'll pardon my analogy...
Titanic
We all know the story of the Titanic. What most people don't know is that The Titanic never stood a chance against that iceberg. From the time Titanic left port she was doomed!
Movie & Celebrity Lens
I love reviewing and rating movies. Thats what I hope to do with this group. Any lens about a movie or celebrity will be welcome. The celebrity does not have to be someone that EVERYONE knows. And the movie doesn't have to be Oscar worthy either. If you liked it, that is all that matters.
New England Patriots
I never thought I would be able to say this one day, but here it is. The New England Patriots are a Dynasty in every sense of the word. Especially in this day and age, with free agency and the business of football it really is amazing how they just get better every year.
Resistance Fall Of Man
Resistance Fall Of Man is part video game, part alternative history buff's fantasy world. It takes place before and instead of, WWII. In 1930's Soviet Russia, our Russian comrades had been undertaking biochemical engineering and testing, when all of a sudden we begin hearing of villages being destroyed...

Once Upon A Time In America
America loves gangster movies. After all whether you love them or hate them gangsters are part of the American fabric. Yes, like almost all things we as Americans have romanticized them into almost folklore status, heroes if you will. Al Capone was anything but a hero, Machine Gun Kelly wasn't called that for no reason...
Dean & Jerry
Dean Martin and Jerry Lewis ended their partnership ten years to the date after it began, after the movie 'Hollywood or Bust' in 1956. In fact, they wouldn't even speak to each other when they weren't filming. But I'm getting ahead myself aren't I...

Social Marketing

Social Networks are the hottest thing on the Internet. People love getting together with other people. In the 80's and 90's dance clubs were the hottest things, and for the most part maybe they still are, but the Internet version is making headway.

With the advent of video and streaming media the day will come when the Internet will be one of the most widely used forms of person to person interaction...come to think of it, I think maybe it already is.

My Favorite Links

Social Networks That I "Socialize" at.

There are many places on the Internet where we go that others wouldn't even think about until they see it on someone else's page. Though I don't consider myself so unique that these links are the best kept secret on the web, someone may find one or two interesting.

The second one down on my list happens to be the one I spend almost all my socializing time at. After that, you be the judge. I guess they all have something to offer. Everyone already knows where myspace is. Thats one place I don't go. I made a profile and basically that was it.
Link Referral.com
Link referral.com is a site where you can review and get reviews for your lens. My Titanic lens has been a part of Link Referral for over a year now.

I haven't always done what I should do to get the most out of Link Referral, but that has changed recently as the traffic to my Titanic lens has climbed rapidly in the past week since I decided to do what I should have been doing all along and work with Link Referral rather than leave everything to chance.

How did I work with Link Referral,? you might ask. And I would tell you; by reviewing other sites. I can review up to five sites a day, or view up to thirty and by doing that I gain rank and other members will review my lens as well. But that is not all the good that comes out of it. My lens has steadily climbed the ranks of Google as well. Obviously it helps to do a little SEO work on your site as well. You don't want to leave that to chance, but not to worry, much of what you need to know is right here.

Will They Make History?

Well, now we know the Patriots didn't go undefeated. In fact we all know they blew the biggest game of the year, the one that would have put them in a league all by themselves. Though I believe they are already in a league of their own, even with the loss to the Giants. But that's my opinion and I guess we'll have to see what happens this coming year.

My Favorite Movies Of All Time

It is extremely difficult to come up with a definitive list of anything when you have to put a limit on the number of items on that list. But this is a subject that is discussed at dinner parties, family gatherings, and in my experience, military barracks all over the world. This list not all inclusive as this lens would be huge. Here I have placed my five most favorite flicks in descending order.
Once Upon a Time in America (1984)
Directed by Sergio Leone. With Robert De Niro, James Woods, Elizabeth McGovern. A former Prohibition-era Jewish gangster returns to Brooklyn over 30 years later, where he once again must confront the ghosts and regrets of his old life. Visit IMDb for Photos, Showtimes, Cast, Crew, Reviews, Plot Summ

The pure scope of this movie is what does it for me. Nothing is left out or missed. Sergio Leone was ahead of his time with this flick, as audiences and critics didn't like the length of it. I couldn't imagine it being any shorter and still get everything in. I believe it was also Jennifer Connelly's first role.
The Departed (2006)
Directed by Martin Scorsese. With Leonardo DiCaprio, Matt Damon, Jack Nicholson. Two men from opposite sides of the law are undercover within the Massachusetts State Police and the Irish mafia, but violence and bloodshed boil when discoveries are made, and the moles are dispatched to find out their enemies identites.

By far Leonardo DiCaprio's finest performance. Not to take anything away from Forest Whitaker who is a great actor, but DiCaprio (in my opinion) deserved the Oscar for "The Departed". though he could have won for "blood Diamond" as well.
My Cousin Vinny (1992)
Directed by Jonathan Lynn. With Joe Pesci, Ralph Macchio, Marisa Tomei. Bill and Stan are mistaken for murderers while on vacation, and Bill's family sends his cousin to defend them for his first case as a lawyer. Visit IMDb for Photos, Showtimes, Cast, Crew, Reviews, Plot Summary, Comments, Discuss

This movie is HILARIOUS, plain and simple. Marisa Tomei was unbelievable. Especially the bedroom scene when she confronts Vinny about going hunting. Classic, Classic, Classic.
Far and Away (1992)
Directed by Ron Howard. With Tom Cruise, Nicole Kidman, Thomas Gibson. Visit IMDb for Photos, Showtimes, Cast, Crew, Reviews, Plot Summary, Comments, Discussions, Taglines, Trailers, Posters, Fan Sites

I know this isn't considered one of the all time greats, but it is one of mine. Nicole Kidman is simply, absolutely gorgeous and I think Tom Cruise played one of his best roles in this movie (other than Jerry McGuire). But what I like most about this movie is the story:
A young man (Cruise) leaves Ireland with his landlord's daughter (Kidman), and sets sail for America. They land in Boston and soon find that life is hard and nothing comes cheap or easy. The relationship between Cruise and Kidman is charged and it's obvious (to me) that they have the hots for each other. I found out after this movie that they were a couple in real life.
Major League (1989)
Directed by David S. Ward. With Tom Berenger, Charlie Sheen, Corbin Bernsen. The new owner of the Cleveland Indians puts together a purposely horrible team so they'll lose and she can move the team. But when the plot is uncovered, they start winning just to spite her. Visit IMDb for Photos, Showtime

As far as comedy's go, this movie (pardon the pun) is a slam dunk...oh wait, wrong sport. Well you get the picture. With an unbelievable cast and great dialog, and awesome one liners, its hard to pin down a "favorite" but Harry Doyle's "Juuuust a bit outside" comes close.

My Favorite "Corny" Movies

You Know We All Have Them

Look we all have movies that for some reason we simply love. I'll be honest too, they all have a love element. Family and friends don't want to talk to us about them, they just shake their collective heads and leave the room, or in your friends case, they just leave muttering to themselves.

Well, here are some that are on my Corny List. It is by no means complete, but I will be adding more as I go along:
The Cutting Edge (1992)
Directed by Paul Michael Glaser. With D.B. Sweeney, Moira Kelly, Roy Dotrice.

Aside from Moira Kelly's uni-brow, this movie has all the attributes of
Kangaroo Jack (2003)
Directed by David McNally. With Jerry O'Connell, Anthony Anderson, Estella Warren. Two childhood friends, a New York hairstylist and a would-be musician, get caught up with the mob and are forced to deliver $50,000 to Australia, but things go haywire when the money is lost to a wild kangaroo.

No matter what any one says, this movie is hilarious. Not to mention the hot blonde.
Sky High (2005)
Directed by Mike Mitchell. With Michael Angarano, Kurt Russell, Kelly Preston. Set in a world where superheroes are commonly known and accepted, young Will Stronghold, the son of the Commander and Jet Stream, tries to find a balance between being a normal teenager and an extraordinary being.

This movie has it all, as far as I'm concerned. It has action, romance, lots of humor, and it's corny.
The Parent Trap (1998)
Directed by Nancy Meyers. With Lindsay Lohan, Dennis Quaid, Natasha Richardson.

If I had to pick my favorite corny movie, "The Parent Trap" would be it, hands down. I know what Lohan has become, but she didn't start out like that. She was a cute newcomer redoing a classic by Haley Mills, and she nailed it.

Here's Your Chance.

Its all in how you say it!

Whether or not you get your comment on my lens depends on how polite you are about how you tell me my lens sucks. You can tell someone to go to hell, and have them actually enjoy the trip if you are tactful enough. My Marine Corps drill instructor told me that, and I believe it still.

So, go ahead. Tell me what you think of things you may have seen or read here. If you aren't too rude, I'll post it. If you are rude and obnoxious, the post will never see the light of day, and why should it? Right?
