Judas Priest are a British Heavy Metal band, widely regarded as one of the most influential and respected Heavy Metal bands in the world.
Judas Priest formed in 1970 in Birmingham, England and quickly stamped their own identity on the Heavy Metal genre. Their twin lead guitars have been emulated by many other artists and their fast paced and powerful music influenced both the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal (NWOBHM) in the 1980's and the development of Speed, Death and Thrash Metal.
Judas Priest have filled concert stadiums all over the world and sold millions of albums. They even directly influenced the "studded black leather" style of Heavy Metal fashion!

Judas Priest were formed from a combination of two different bands! Vocalist Al Atkins was in a band called Judas Priest and when they split up, he asked K. K. Downing, Ian Hill and John Ellis who played in a band called Freight if he could join them as their singer. Freight later changed their name to Judas Priest and the rest is history!

Rob Halford left the band in 1992 and was replaced by Tim "Ripper" Owens, who had previously sung in a Judas Priest tribute band called British Steel. Judas Priest released two albums with Ripper Owens as vocalist: Jugulator (1997) and Demolition (2001)
