About Judith Leiber and Judith Leiber Handbags
Judith lived in Budapest, Hungary, during World War II where she studied the craft of handbag making. Judith met and married Gerson Leiber, an American GI stationed in Budapest at the end of the war. The couple moved to the U.S. in 1947. Judith worked several years for various New York handbag
manufacturers and then in 1963 Judith launched her own handbag business, the Judith Leiber Company.
Mrs. Leiber retired in 1998 but her handbags, evening bags, belts, eyewear and other accessories
are now world-renowned and much sought after by Leiber collectors. Judith Leiber handbags can be viewed in museums around the world.
Probably
the most popular of Judith Leiber bags are the bags made of crystal and exotic leathers. You can still find vintage Judith Leiber on eBay and you can buy new at a few select upscale retailers across the nation.
