Juice Diet Recipes

Quick & Healthy Juice Recipes

"This stuff is amazing" was the first thing that came to mind when I tasted one of the juices. I guess it wasn't just the refreshing boost that it gave, but the idea of a much more nutritious lifestyle with plenty of exciting fruits and vegetables. I have always thought that I had quite a balanced diet, but after I came across Joe Cross' documentary FAT, SICK AND NEARLY DEAD and went through his great online recipes, my kitchen changed into a lush green tropical garden :-)
It's an amazing documentary about a guy's journey through JUICE FASTING, and how he and other people he meets along the way achieve a healthy lifestyle using the power of fruit and vegetables. Its primary target is of course focused on shedding those kilos but even for people who have no weight issues like my self, it's well worth watching and the recipes are a great way to spice up your life style and get some extra energy.

So here's a big thank you to Joe Cross and how to get you started juicing!

What is juice fasting?

For most people the word fasting probably brings up some pretty ugly scenarios, it certainly did to me, but this is quite a different story.

This is not about starving your self, but to blend a variety of fruits and vegetables and have them as a juice to satisfy your daily intake. Each juice contains a variety of ingredients and is designed to replace a meal.

Joe Cross goes through 60 days of juice fasting, a so called "Reboot" to reset his body's system, and naturally loses an enormous amount of kilos, but this can obviously not be recommended without a doctor's supervision. So according to Reboot Your Life's website a 5 day juice fast is recommended, or for a bit of a more humane version a diet with light meals and juice in combination.

Anyway, I have tasted a lot of the juices as a family member recently has been through a juice fast with great success, and I have been surprised with the result and the taste of the juices!

I absolutely love the Green Juices from Join the Reboot and are now including them into my food plan.

Types of Juice machines

basic guide to Juicers

There are many different types of juicers on the market, and as everyone has different needs and requirements it's important to choose the juicer that fits the purpose - whether you are juicing to fight a certain disease or medical condition, or to improve general health and well-being.

They all work differently and come in various sizes, shapes and price ranges, so to make it easy here is a general overview of the different juice machine categories with manual and electric versions:

Citrus presses & Wheat grass juicers
Centrifugal Juicers
Masticating Juicers (single gear)
Triturating Juicers (twin gear)

Citrus juicers are the least expensive juicers and are ideal for extracting juice from fruits such as oranges, lemons and grapefruits.

Wheat grass juicers are made exclusively for extracting the juice from wheat grass and other low water content leafy greens. All twin gear juicers and most masticating juicers are capable of juicing wheat grass as well.

Centrifugal Juicers are the most common and affordable types of juicers. They operate at a very high speed and are generally quite noisy but get the job done very easily and quickly. Perfect for general fruits and veggies, but they generate less juice (especially leafy and other grassy foods) than the single- and twin gear juicers.

Masticating Juicers (Single gear) operate at a slower speed than centrifugal juicers creating more juice and are capable of extracting juice from leaves and grasses. They are quiet and generally easier to clean than centrifugal juicers. Perfect for all kinds of produce and they extract more juice from greens than centrifugal juicers do.

Triturating Juice machines (Twin gear) are the most expensive and advanced type of juicers which operate at very slow speed, and produce the driest pulp.

Fat, Sick & Nearly Dead trailer

The movie is about Joe, an Australian overworked entrepreneur who like many people got caught up in the rat race and forgot all about health and a balanced lifestyle. Due to poor health he is suffering and is on various medications, so with that in mind he goes on a 60 day juice fast journey through the U.S. to cure him self and help others along the way.
It's a well put together documentary and leaves a good feeling of how changes in life style along with fruit & vegetables can make a real difference.

Its because of Joe and his movie Fat Sick & Nearly Dead that I now own a juicer. I tell everyone I care about to watch it and how much it impacted me. I can't wait to start my rebot this week. I'm starting off slow with three days first. Thanks Joe.

Great recipes! I saw a juicer in a thrift shop the other day and considered buying it, but wasn't sure what to do with it. I may go back and get it now.

We juice regularly in our home. We have a green Star twin gear juicer, a Solo Star single auger juicer as well as a Citristar electric citrus juicer and manual citrus juicers too. Juicing is awesome!
