The Grandmother Fan Club for Julia Nagy, My Grandma!

Do you have any suggestions ... for how I can improve my tribute to my grandmother?

From the lens Julia Nagy : Grandmother and Namesake.

I'm looking for suggestions for more good articles, photos, videos, blog posts, etc about this person. Think of this like the "External Resources" part of a Wikipedia page. What references would you add about my superhero?

A wonderful tribute to your grandmother. I'm fortunate to still have my grandmother on my mother's side with us, and we're starting to plan for her 100th birthday this November!

You have done a wonderful job on your grandmothers tribute lens, so I don't have any suggestions...I envy your relationship with your Grandma, I never had that chance with either one of mine...consider yourself to be Blessed...and a ~d-artist Squid Angel Blessing~ on this lens

Family photos always make a great tribute and you delivered with your treasures of photos. It was nice meeting your grandmother.

Beautiful beautiful tribute. The pictures help give an even greater picture of your grandmother and your family further back.

Wonderful lens! Your grandmother is great. She inspires you and supports you. Such a touching bond that you share with each other. Sundae ;-)
  • dawngibson Jul 8, 2011 @ 5:34 pm | delete
It might be cool to compare what was happening when you and she were born and reached other milestones. For example, when My Gran was born, she couldn't vote, women couldn't really play many sports, and were more limited in jobs. I have always been able to vote, was on the swimming/debating teams, and can have any job I want.

Thanks for sharing this inspirational lens. Grandmothers are indeed superheroes! I plan on making my grand mom a scrapbook on her coming birthday. She's turning 70 this year and I hope this would ease her worries about the latest DePuy Hip Replacement Recall issues that she recently learned about.

My grandmother is my superhero too! The most generous and kind person in the world - at least in my opinion ;)

Simply delightful! I love your Grandmother's wedding photo! What a wonderful tribute you have added not just to her, but to all the grandmothers in our lives. Thank you for a beautiful, inspiring start to my day today.

I called my grandmother "Anne" (at her request) because she was barely 40 when I was born and she thought she and "Ernie" (my grandfather) were too young to be grandparents (they still had 2 at home under 10 when my teenage mother had me :o) Eventually there were 4 of us siblings and we were 'supposed' to take turns spending the weekend at 'Anne & Ernie's' house. Guess who spent 2-3 out of every 4 weekends there! I was a great finagler and it was easy to get my way around my grandmother who loved me a lot! :o). She was the dearest person in the world to me - she loved me unconditionally and we had a special rapport unmatched by any other family members. She's been gone more than 30 years, but I still think about her every day and will miss her always. There was no one else in the world like her. She was a very special lady!

I can tell by this wonderful tribute to your special grandmother, Julia Nagy, you felt much as I did about mine. Weren't we incredibly lucky to have had these women for our grandmothers?
  • paperfacets Jun 9, 2010 @ 3:26 am | delete
Maybe Grandmother Nagy's house. At my Grandmother's house I remember tomato and onion relish in jars in the cool clean basement where I would read the stacks of Reader's Digest on the day bed and listen to the rumble of the train that was just 30 feet away. It gets hot in Mankato in the summertime.

    Wonderful story of your Grandmother.

This gets me to thinking of all the strong women in our family. I need to make some lenses about them. Thanks!

I love grandmother tributes - how wonderful to be named after such a special lady! I'm tickled to see I'm the 100th person to rate this lens, which is appropriate, since I am lensrolling you to my grandmother's 100th birthday lens (and also my 100th lens)!

Absolutely nothing compares to the love of a grandmother and you were certainly blessed with a real jewel. Angel Blessed and added to my Squid Angel Mouse Tracks lens

What a great tribute...so glad you had that kind of "super hero" relationship with her.
...hopefully that 1 piece of depression glass you own was part of her collection as I find that much more sentimental than how I obtained my pieces (ebay) :o(

I really enjoyed all the family pics...thanks for sharing!

Oh the memories came flooding back about special times I spent with both my grandma's. If I could have them back for just two seconds, I'd hug, kiss, and thank them for their unconditional love. Thank you for sharing the best part of your life...your grandmother! PS Loved the saucy pic of you and grandma in the kitchen :)

For many of us our grandmothers were a special place, somewhere we got to just have fun. My kids adore my grandmother, they spend the night with her once a week and I'm glad they will have those memories to carry them to their adulthood...

    Hi!

Thanks for being my first fan - I'm a newbie on Squidoo. I have loved reading this lens, Grandmas are the best things about growing up and mine was very special to me. Even though it was so sad when she passed away, every memory becomes an inspiration.

    Thanks again for being friendly!

My grandparents were gone by the time I was born. I am sometimes glad I broke with that slow-moving tradition and started my family at 18. Now, I can enjoy 6 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Something my mother would have loved to do. She was 37 when I was born! Now I must think about how they perceive me. Thanks for the thought-food!

Happy Birthday! Beautiful lens - I also was the namesake of my Grandmother and it is an honor. This brings back so many memories - learning to crotchet with her help - and failing miserably. She could do the fine doilies - best I can do are the afghans with yarn! Grandma died when I was in high school - so many occasions I wished she was there.

Very nice lens Julie, I can tell you love your grandmother. This is one of the best lenses I have seen lately, so much detail. 5***** and LOTD well deserved.

I tried to vote, but for the 2nd time in 24 hours nothing came up :( SO here is my entry (I saved it this time!)...

I miss both of mine, one died in the 60's, the other in the early 80's. There are so many questions I would have liked to ask as well, and now it's too late. If you still have your grandparents - ask away while you can. It's no good starting work on your family history in 20 years if they aren't around then.

Your grandmother has the loveliest face. It is very easy to see why she was your superhero. And the photo of the two of you together tells it all; while she sweetly and quietly concentrates on what she is doing, you are obviously having the time of your life!
