Way before Rachael Ray & Emeril Lagassi there was one true famous cooking personality. That is of course Julia Child. Best know for her French cooking & her PBS show "The French Chef" Julia Child was a endearing talent who brought the love of cooking to millions of viewers. Julia Child (August 15, 1912 ? August 13, 2004) was an American chef, author and television personality. She introduced French cuisine and cooking techniques to the American mainstream through her many cookbooks and television programs, notably The French Chef which premiered in 1963. Her best-known cookbook is Mastering the Art of French Cooking, published in 1961.

    My cousin and I used to sit and watch reruns of Julia's show on PBS after school. I was so glad I had a witness the day that she was beating eggs for a souffle and said, "Just think of eggs as nahsty little men who need to be beaten and p-hunished..."! I'd love to see a clip of that show today.
