It's a Jumble Out There!

I love designing for my Zazzle gallery The Jumble Factory! It gives me more flexibility than my other Zallery gallery, The Girlfriend Factory because I use Photoshop® brushes created by many different designers instead of originating everything from scratch (yes, at times my imagination runs dry). Blending different brushes into one piece makes for some exciting and interesting art. I opened The Jumble Factory! on Zazzle to showcase these unique pieces. BTW, the brushes I use come with a commercial license as long as a few simple terms are followed or a commercial license is purchased from the originating artist.

Photoshop Love!

The more I learn about Photoshop®, the more I wonder how I lived without it for so long! Well, I already owned it, but I didn't know how to use it. In fact, I still don't know everything or even close to it, but I am learning more daily and the results are amazing!

It's All in the Brushes!

Or, Wow! I never knew it could be so easy and so fun!

Photoshop® brushes are a dream for an artist when it comes to creating a wide range of items without spending days or even weeks laboring over each piece. They allow for flexibility in size, shape, angle and color without losing the integrity of continuity. They can be tricky until you figure out how to use them, but so many tutorials exist to offer help, that it's impossible to miss if you really want to learn. (One great tutorial source: Photoshop Roadmap!)

As for the brushes, hundreds are available, free online, to download and use. A word of caution though, if you plan to use them commercially (to make money like I am trying to do at The Jumble Factory) be sure to read the terms of service carefully. Some artists will provide a commercial license or release right in the download with no strings attached, some artists will allow commercial use if you simply will link back to their website from your website, and others require you to purchase a commercial license.

Below is a list of some sites I use for brushes. Please feel free to add your favorites to it and rate up the ones on the list you use or find that you like.

The Great Computer Wars!

Mac or Windows? Windows or Mac?

It seems for eons now (well, for at least as long as computers have been in existence), the great debate of Mac vs. PCs (Windows) can ruin friendships, bring people to blows and cause countries to collapse. Okay, maybe not the last one, but people do seem to be fiercely loyal to one or the other. I want to know which one you design with and maybe tell me why, if you can not get too worked up over it. I'd hate to send you into a rage that makes you kick your dog or something. *wink*

Which platform is better for graphic designers?

Mac all the way, baby!

lapetitefrog says:

mac!! :)

misskitteh says:

You're kidding right? As someone who has worked on both systems, there is really no comparison. Windows is so buggy and unfriendly I have often found myself banging my head in utter despair. Whereas life with a Mac is an absolute pleasure. From the intuitiveness, and ease of installation both hardware and software-wise - once you've tried a Mac you'll never go back.

Macintosh!

girlfriendfactory says:

I have used both Macs and PCs and while it's a little tougher to find Mac brushes and plugins, the ease of use and security on a Mac make it more desirable for me. Sure they cost a pretty penny, but you get everything you need without having to buy it later.

Windows rocks the house!
