As long as you follow these 5 simple steps that I'm going to reveal closely and consistently, I can guarantee you that you'll be able to generate your first dollar online, and thereafter, you just need to build on it over time to generate a good income on the Internet.

What's In This Lens 

The following is a list of what you'll find in this lens.

However, I'll strongly urge you to read the lens from the first topic onwards and follow through all the 5 steps that I'm going to reveal on how you can make your first dollar online in a sequential manner.

That way, you'll be able to get the most out of this lens.

Step 1: What Is Your Subject Area? 

This is the very first step toward making your first dollar online - finding your subject area.

It is important that you find a subject/topic where you have knowledge/interest in - the reason is because you're going to need to do some writing on that particular subject/topic you've chosen in the later stages, and if you were to go into a subject/topic where you have very little or no knowledge in, you'll find it very tough to carry on in the later stages.

Throughout this lens, I'm going to use "dog training" as an example. Before you continue reading the rest of the content, I want you to stop here momentarily and spend the next 5 - 10 minutes to think of a subject area you're interested and have knowledge in (write them down on a piece of paper).

Step 2: Find Products/Services In Your Area Of Interest You Can Sell 

Once you've identified your subject/topic of interest, the next step is to find products/services in the area of interest you can sell as an affiliate, and receive commissions for every sale (if you have any questions about what affiliate program is, and how do they work, visit my lens on affiliate marketing - where I answer all questions that you have on affiliate marketing).

Here are some places where you can find products/services which you can sell as an affiliate:

Digital Products (E-Books, MP3s, Audios, Videos, etc.)

1. ClickBank
2. PayDotCom
3. Associate Programs (Contains both physical & digital products you can sell as an affiliate)

Physical Products (Electronics, Home Appliances, Fashion Accessories, etc.)
1. Amazon
2. Commission Junction
3. Performics
4. ShareASale

The above are a list of merchants in the various categories with affiliate programs where you can promote their products/services.

Signing up as an affiliate in those websites are free. However, for some of them, they may require you to have a website to complete the registration - don't worry about that one for the time being - I'll teach you how you can create one in "Step 3 - Setting Up Your Website".

You may also wish to look for affiliate programs in the subject/topic you are interested in - all you need to do is to enter the following:

[Subject/Topic] affiliate program

In the example of dog training, I'll type in the following:

You'll then see a list of websites with affiliate programs in your area of interest:

Signing up as an affiliate in most of these sites are free - for the start, I would recommend you to promote only for merchants that allow you to sign up as their affiliate for free.

How Do I know Whether Or Not The Product/Service I Want To Promote Is Sellable? 

Very simple - after you've read through the merchant's sales page, answer the following question:

"After reading the whole sales page, are you convinced enough to want to purchase the products/services the merchant has?"

If you've answered yes to the above question, then you can be quite certain that other people will want to purchase from that merchant as well. Otherwise, you may want to consider not promoting products/services of that merchant.

Is There Any Way For Me To Find Out The Most Profitable Markets Currently & Sell To That Market? 

ABSOLUTELY!In fact, that's how you can make the MOST amount of money FAST! ;)

By creating products or promoting products around the topic where people are currently actively discussing or searching on will help you generate massive amounts of cash fast - that's what we all want, am I right? ;)

So the question now is, WHERE can I find out WHAT are the hottest topics being searched for and discussed right now? - I've created a lens where I will show you EIGHT (8)) different websites you can visit to find out what are the most search for and discussed topics RIGHT NOW, as well as what products are people currently buying at the moment (the hottest selling products).

Step 3: Setting Up Your Website 

Please do not be scared off by this - there's no coding or programming involved. All you need to do is to just click on the mouse a couple of times to sign up and you're done.

You can get your free website by going to Blogger.com where you can sign up for a free blog.

Step 4: Writing Articles & Submit Them To Your Blog 

This step involves writing of articles and submitting them to your blog which you've created in the previous step (Step 3 - Setting Up Your Website).

You need to establish yourself as someone who is an "expert" or "authority" in the subject/topic in which you are promoting products/services in - the reason is because nobody will want to buy from someone who knows nothing about the products/services he/she is promoting (will you want to buy a product from a salesperson who knows nothing about the product? I'm sure you won't, right? The same concept applies here).

This is where having knowledge in the particular subject/topic you've chosen in "Step 1: What's Your Subject Area?" comes in. If you know nothing about the subject/topic area you've chosen in step 1, you'll find yourself stuck in this step - as there's nothing you can share your experiences/knowledge about.

What you need to do in this step is to write articles on the subject/area you've chosen in step 1. For example, in the area of dog training - I'll write articles such as:

- Tips for training my pet dog
- Are you training your pet dog the right or wrong way?
- Avoid common dog training mistakes
- What are some of the essential dog training equipment
- Different ways to train your pet dog

Share your experiences as well as the things you've learned in this particular subject/topic (in this example, dog training)

In your articles, you can eventually introduce the products/services you are promoting to your readers (along with your affiliate link in which they can click on to visit the merchant's sales page), by stating useful information like what these products/services does, their benefits, as well as pros and cons of these products/services. People are more likely to purchase something if it's recommended by someone, especially when they know that that someone is knowledgeable in the subject/topic he/she is selling products/services in.

One point to take note though, do not attempt to introduce more than 1 product/service in an article. This will turn your readers off, with them thinking that the article you've written is nothing but a sales copy.

You may also want to write individual articles to review the products/services you're promoting - stating its benefits, pros and cons (no products are perfect, so make sure you state down the cons of the product as well), to whom is the product/service most suitable for, etc. Give people an honest review of the products/services you're promoting - and you're more likely to get people to purchase them.

How Many Articles Should I Write?  

Aim to write about 3 - 5 articles everyday and post them onto your blog. Do this everyday over a period of 30 days.

If you have lots of knowledge/experience in the subject area you've chosen in step 1, writing 3 - 5 articles everyday shouldn't take you anywhere more than 1 hour.

How Can I Write A Product Review If I Don't Own It Myself? 

If you want to promote a particular product/service, it would be most ideal if you were to purchase it yourself and use them - that way you can write the best review out of it (I personally only promote products/services that I own and use).

However, I can understand some of you may be financially tight to purchase some of these product/service you're going to promote (as it may cost you lots of money). In that case, you may want to search for reviews on that product (just head over to Google and type in [product name] review - let's say I want to look for product review for product XYZ, I'll enter product XYZ review in Google search. You'll see a whole list of sites with reviews about product XYZ).

Read through other people's reviews on that particular product/service you're going to promote, and take down the important information about it - such as the pros and cons of it, how has the products/services benefited them, etc.

With the information you've collected, you can now write your own product review based on these information.

Step 5: Traffic Generation Strategies 

Now, you have to find a way to drive traffic to your blog (which you've created in "Step 3: Setting Up Your Website")

Remember the articles you've written in "Step 4: Writing Articles & Submitting Them To Your Blog"? This step involves submitting all the articles you've written to each of these 17 article directories:

1. EZineArticles
2. Go Articles
3. Articles Base
4. Article Dashboard
5. Idea Marketers
6. Article Alley
7. Article Snatch
8. The Real Articles
9. Article Cube
10. Article Rich
11. Articles Base Camp
12. Add Articles
13. Articles Gone Viral
14. 1 Article World
15. eArticles Online
16. Article Buzz
17. a1 Articles

I've personally submitted my articles to these article directories and they take no more than 1 week to approve your articles and publish them in the article directory. The reason it will take a couple of days before your articles get published is because once you've submitted your articles, they'll be reviewed by a human editor to make sure that the content is unique before approving them.

When you submit your articles, you'll notice that at there's an "Author's Bio" box at the bottom - that's where you can include a link to your blog.

The following is an example of an author's bio box:

Notice in the above author's bio box example, where you see text in blue - these are links you can include to your blog.

You can drive quite a lot of traffic to your website by just using this technique alone.

Submit your articles the same day you post them onto your blog.

Getting Traffic From Forums 

Another way you can get traffic to your blog is through forums. To find out what forums are there in the subject/topic you're in, all you need to do is to key in the following terms into Google:

[Your subject/topic] forums

For example, my subject/topic is about dog training, so I'll key in:

dog training forums

You'll see a list of forums on the subject/topic you've entered - all you need to do now is to sign up (for free) and start participating.

Here's how you can get traffic to your website - Once you've signed up, you can edit your profile and over in that page, you'll see an option where you can enter your forum signature - this is where you can enter the link to your blog.

So, for every post you've submitted to the forums, you'll see the link to your website underneath your posts, as follows:

The more posts you submit, the more you'll see your blog links in the forum, and the more traffic you'll receive. That said, you do not want to go in and spam the forum - you must go in and provide useful information for other forum members.

Utilizing Yahoo Answers For Traffic 

Yahoo Answers is another place where you can sign up and start answering questions on the subject/topic you're in. However, it is often overlooked by lots of people (including many Internet Marketers).

Yahoo Answers is free to sign up - all you need is a Yahoo account (which is also free to sign up).

Try to answer as much questions as possible on the subject/topic you're doing - and in your answers, you may include a link to your website and you may ask the question asker to refer to your site for more information regarding the question they've asked.

This is another great source to get loads of traffic into your blog.

Traffic From Social Networking Sites 

You can also get traffic to your blog from social networking sites like:

1. MySpace
2. FaceBook
3. Friendster
4. Twitter

These social networking sites are free to sign up - what you need to do to drive traffic to your blog is to form a community with people that's interested in the subject/topic you're promoting products/services in.

Do not just go in and sell like a salesman - people will not like it. You should go in and provide valuable content and information to people - convince them that you are the authority in that subject/topic and once they're convinced, then they'll most likely purchase whatever products/services you recommend to them.

Paid Traffic Generation - Pay Per Click 

If you have the budget, and would like to drive more traffic to your website, you might want to consider using Pay Per Click Search Engine Marketing - this is where you'll advertise your blog on the various search engines, and pay a certain sum of money whenever someone clicks on your ad to go to your blog.
