I agree with you, they are twinkies. I've banned them because of the horrendous grammar.

The Junie B. Jones books are funny, silly books and perhaps they are alright for once in a while. I used to really enjoy reading these books with my children, but have come to dislike them. My four year old was enjoying reading them, but it didn't last long. I dislike the improper use of language, and the rude language that Junie uses. I think that they could have been cute books to read with beginning readers, but don't think that they are the best due to the improper use of grammar. Instead the Winnie the Pooh books by A.A. Milne or the Little Bear books are some that I would recommend and our my family's favorites. For beginning readers I might suggest the Magic Tree House books. I did not care for them that much, but my daughter and son enjoyed reading them when they were five and six.

I teach at an immersion elementary school, and my students love Junie B. Jones. Like most of their reading choices, it's not art, but all but one or two are reluctant readers, so I'll take what I can get!

You're the first Charlotte Mason teacher I've come across who has said that twinkies once in a while are okay. It's refreshing to see someone who doesn't categorically reject all twaddle.

Junie B. books helped my daughter cross the bridge into chapter books. The whole time she was reading them, she would point out the silly grammar and spellings.

Junie B. Jones was my favorite little first grader (besides my own). I can only think she and Ramona would have been best friends. Maybe the two authors could collaborate - Junie meets Ramona. Huh? This is a fabulous lens. *blessed*

I did enjoy it when a Junie B book was read to me at story time when my daughter was 6...ahh those were the days! I believe that anyone who refuses to read these books because they don't use correct grammer all the time...! Well, Let me just say, they are missing out!

All my kids loved Junie B Jones. They were one of the first books they would read on their own. Love the lens. Lensrolling to my Books for 1st Graders lens.

I think her books should be BANNED! Her books do NOT have proper word frazes!
EX: I runned to Grandma Miller.
Which it should be: I ran to Grandma Miller.
Are we trying to help our kids read or are we trying to get them confused?!

You should be BANNED for not using proper "phrases"! At this rate June B. might 'learn' you something!!

I particularly enjoyed your personal opinions on this lens. We did not read Junie B. Jones -- the boys were not interested -- but I know she has many fans. Blessed by a brand-new SquidAngel.

Great lens! My daughter used to love Junie B. The books are hilarious. I think there's a bit of Junie in every little girl!

Hey, Junie B., Why don't you make a book about you meeting a new girl named Issabel? Accually, i'm writing a book about that. I'm on chapter 2. I think it's an okay book.

My children love the Junie B books. When I first discovered them a few years ago I didn't like the appalling grammar. However it encourages the children to read so that is fine by me and I have learned to relax about it!

I was dubious at first about my daughter reading books with bad grammar etc in 1st grade, but she loved the books and they encouraged her reading.
    5 ***** for a great lens.

Two of my daughters have read all of the Junie B. Jones books and loved them. I like them too. It is a nice fun read no matter what your age. We recently discovered Clementine. We like her a lot too. If you haven't read Clementine, I would encourage you to do so, especially if you have a child with ADHD, like I do.
