As a young girl I was never allowed junk food. (Maybe it didn't exist that long ago:=)) Now I crave salty things. I have to really try hard not to eat that. 5*s

Hi LaraineRose! Sorry I didn't see your post earlier, I've been neglecting my Squidoo lenses.
Thanks so much for commenting - and I think that a lot of us were fortunate not to grow up with so much junk food as the current generation. I have a strong desire to help families and particularly children, to get onto the right track with nutrition!
    Thanks for stopping by!

It's an ongoing battle isn't it? 5* and a lensroll to my lens on one of the original junk food joints.

    Hi Lisa!
Great point -- absolutely, isn't it wonderful when you actually lose the taste for something that you thought you "couldn't live without" before? For most of us, it is a slow process, but when it happens and our bodies are in balance, it feels so wonderful to bypass junk food easily! Diana

    Hi Diana

Thanks for the great lens. I've found that since kicking my addiction to fatty foods, if I have that kind of food again, it just feels so greasy in the mouth! I still sometimes have rich foods, but don't crave them any more. It's all about losing the taste for it as well, isn't it?

Thanks for your comments, Maria, Brad and Christina! Yes, Christina -- I think slow changes are better than quick ones anyway - they are more lasting, and the changes can become lifelong good habits! Diana

    Hi Christina,
Thanks so much for your input -- yes, I know it is often baby steps. It starts with the awareness, and then just making changes slowly. I'm not a believer in making giant changes quickly because it can be overwhelming. So that is great that you are making changes slowly! Diana

Awesome lens Diana! Unfortunately I'm a snacker as is my whole family. But I'm starting to make changes very slowly so I'm keeping my fingers crossed! Keep the info coming!

Thanks for your comment, Kat! Oh, I think that is an experiment they should do in all schools - I wonder if they do it now? It made a lifelong impression on you, so that is terrific!

I agree Diana! I don't drink pop at all ever and never did even in my teens. (they made us do that test in school where if you lose a tooth you put it in cola and it disappears over a short time)so it turned me off it. Info to the masses would be an extremely good idea. K

Thanks for your comments, Annette, Melody and Kristine. Funny - Annette - yes, comfort foods are great sometimes! Yes, Kristine, I should do a whole lens on junk drinks too!

Great lens! I don't eat much junk food, but I love junk drinks - flavored coffee, diet coke, iced coffees... I think those are worse for me than the junk food!

I rarely eat junk food but I know it's a problem for many people so you have a great resource for those folks!
