Jurij Vega - mathematician, physicist and astronomer
Baron Jurij Vega is a world-famous Slovenian scientist, mathematician, physicist and astronomer.
Jurij Vega was born 23 March 1754 in the small Village Zagorica near Moravce to a poor peasant parents. He died 48 years old, 26.9.1802 in Vienna, as a respected and well-known scientist, as a nobleman and with military rank of lieutenant colonel.
His most known work are logarithmic tables, which have been printed in more than 100 editions. Moreover, he published a large number of scholarly articles and books, especially in the field of mathematics, physics and astronomy.
He is considered as the founder of ballistic science.
