The Vision for Jurong Church is to recreate the ideal church in the Bible that is found in ACTS chapter 2.

Jurong church is not perfect. Thus, we believe in working together through the power of God to recreate the ACTS 2 church in the 21st Century.

The Church in ACTS 2 talks about Christians living together in love and unity. They cared for another. They worshipped with one another. They prayed for one another. Living a life where unconditional love, geniune support and authenticity are the buzz words of the community.

The focus of our Church is not to grow a church with programs but to intentionally focus on loving people and to help them to become mature believers for Jesus Christ.

Our dream is that Jurong church will be a place where the hurting, the depressed, the frustrated and the confused can find love, acceptance, help, hope, forgiveness, guidance and encouragement.

Our Pastor

His wife calls him 'Johnny'; the church calls his Pastor Kan and God calls him His.

Pastor Johnny Kan has been the pastor of Jurong English Church for almost 8 years. He and his wife, Pik Yee, are instrumental in transforming Jurong Church into a livelier and friendlier environment that over 200 people call their spiritual home.

He comes from an Adventist family with 3 other siblings. His father was a former pastor of Jurong Chinese Church.

Often said by himself as being very rebellious in his teens, he experienced a complete turn-around by accepting God's call to enter seminary.

It was a tough decision, as prior to that, he had a diploma in Mechanical Engineering but it was through Pik Yee's (then his girlfriend) encouragement that he decided to tread the path to being a pastor.

He started his full-time ministry by being a Chaplain for San Yu High School. He then moved on to be associate/youth pastor for Thomson Chinese Church. After which, he became the pastor for Jurong English Church.

Today, he not only shoulders bravely the responsibilities of shepherding his flock, he is also the Singapore Adventist Mission's Secretary and currently pursuing his Doctorate of Ministry degree.

Besides his pastoral life, he enjoys delving into the latest IT equipment and gadgets and often attends exhibitions like COMDEX and the PC Show.

Jurong Church has benefited from the introduction of technology to help make the Church a more conducive place of worship.

Pastor Kan is also passionate in helping people to know God. He is active in empowering lay members for ministry positions. This can be seen to be in line with his vision - to build the congregation in Jurong Church to be a healthy evangelistic body of Christ.
