The Justice Society Fan Files

If you read my profile you would find that one of my hobbies or interests is comic book collecting and reading. As with all other comic book readers and collectors I have my favorites. My favorites have always been comics about teams, including the Justice League or JLA, the Teen Titans, the Legion of Superheroes or my favorite The JSA or Justice Society of America.

The JSA is a group of DC comics based superheroes who had their beginnings in 1940 first appearing in All Star Comics # 3. It was originally started as a way for DC comics to expose their lesser known characters. Members of the group included the Original Green Lantern and the Golden Age Flash as well as Hawkman, the Spectre, Hourman, Doctor Fate and the Atom among others. Superman and Batman were only honorary members of the original team.

In 1963 in order to explain characters from the Golden Age and their differences as related to their predecessors such as the Silver Age Green Lantern and the Silver Age Flash DC comics decided that the characters that were originally a part of the Justice Society were actually on a parallel world, a world that would become known as Earth 2. Earth 1 would be the home of a newly imagined Superman and Batman as well as the reimagined Flash, Green Lantern Hal Jordan, Wonder Woman, a new Atom, and a Hawkman who came to Earth from the Planet Thanagar. This was simply the easiest ways to explain new origin stories as well as to age the original characters albeit slowly.

As the JSA has been launched and relaunched several times as have many epic comic book teams, the JSA title ended last year and in December was rebooted as The Justice Society of America. As such I will be reviewing each issue in a new blogger blog I have started and that the rss feed will be linked here in this lens. The blog is called the Justice Society of America and can be found at:

A Fan Film found on YouTube

Searching YouTube I found that someone is producing an Indie Movie or rather fan film of the JSA. I am linking the entire clip here. It is not big budget but it shows that there are fans out there wanting to create movies based on teams such as the JSA.
