Just Me

Southern California has long been recognized for raising up some of today's finest hip-hop artists. If you want to soak in the sights, sounds, and even smells of hip-hop, So-Cal is something of an ideal place to grow up. And this is exactly where JustMe was born and raised, and it didn't take him long to sink in some deep hip-hop roots.

JustMe made his initial foray into hip-hop via breakdancing, at the very green age of twelve. This probably had something to do with impressing the girls at school. Of course, there was a lot more to it then that, which meant that JustMe was not content for long with just rocking the floor. At the age of thirteen JustMe moved on to rocking the party - deejaying locally, and even promoting himself by tagging his name in graffiti wherever he could find a bare surface.

So, it's no surprise that by the time JustMe turned fifteen, he was restlessly recording music with some of the bare minimum: an 8-second sampler and a cassette 4-track. He was also a regular at many open-mics, battling many other young, up-and-coming emcees. And to quote a hip-hop classic: "This is how it should be done." Subsequently, after graduating high-school, JustMe packed up and left home in pursuit of "the dream": to represent truth and love through the art of emceeing worldwide.

Almost immediately after venturing out, JustMe got his first taste of national recognition! His group at the time - "The Solseekers" received critical acclaim in the now defunct RAP SHEET magazine. Shortly thereafter The Solseekers' song "Audience of One" rose to #1 on the exceedingly popular mp3.com hip-hop charts, surpassing such well-known and established artists ranging from Q-Tip to Silkk the Shocker.

Unfortunately, what seemed to be a steady, meteoric rise was slowly, and painfully cut short. We all know the story: industry confusion, poor decisions, etc. But it was during this time that JustMe made some of the important mistakes that people are refined and matured through. The sort of mistakes that actually helped to grow his love and commitment to the music!

Pushing forward with that grown-up fervor, JustMe keeps raising the bar with each and every track. He also puts in work as a co-founding member of the The Scribbling Idiots crew , who happen to be busting at the seams with talent, and very much poised to be the next big herd of hip-hop elephants running through these local china shops. Simply put, JustMe just keeps marinating and building - and the fruit of his labors personify ill.

Last but not least, in addition to his solo projects, JustMe has to his credit multiple standout performances on many mixtapes and compilations. He has worked in the studio with crews such as the The Tunnel Rats, Future Shock, and Deepspace 5. All this music over the years has built a credfanbase worldwide and stateside. He's performed all over the U.S. sharing the stage with artists
such as Mars Ill, Living Legends, Abstract Rude, Souljahz, L.A. Symphony, KJ 52, Nuwine (with the list going on and on).
