JVC Boombox Reviews

Ever heard of the JVC RV-NB1 boombox? Well you should have if you're into outdoor portable music systems. It's the definitive model when it comes to a loud party sound. Despite the popularity of these boomboxes, JVC was going to discontinue the line! Someone smart obviously sat up and averted this, as they are still available. Here's what we thought of the JVC RV-NB1.

First off, it's beefy looking. Seriously beefy. But we could easily carry it, and it fits over the shoulder nicely with the included strap. The CD player does not jitter on the move. It also plays tapes, MP3, FM radio and CD-R/CD-RW. Not bad we say. It's sturdy and wont fall apart under high pressure. It even survived several beer spillage incidents....ahem.

Now for the substance - the sound. The JVC RV-NB1 boombox provides a wide stereo range and a satisfying melodic reproduction. But that's not why you want it! The bass in incredible, and we've never heard any bass nearly as deep and rich come from a portable system before this. It reputedly goes below 80 hertz, which is amazing for a system of this size.

And you ask, how is this possible? Here's how - the system is powered by over 50 watts, which charges 2 front speakers and 2 side woofers, all of which are 16 inches a piece, woof. And it's loud. If you turn it up to the max it'll leave your ears ringing.
