Well, I am blushing. I learned something here today, but now I feel kinda dumb. I always knew that there was a Kansas City in Missouri and a Kansas City next door in KS, but I thought that they were two different cities. Like the twin cities of Minneapolis and St. Paul. Well, now I know :) I enjoyed your lens and hope to one day visit the city (singular) of Kansas City!

Well, Dave, yes and no! No you are not dumb, and yes there are 2 Kansas City's. One is in the State of Missouri and one is in Kansas with different governments. However, you can go from one to the other without knowing it. Maybe I should make a lens on the differences. lol! We talk about the Greater Kansas City area which includes both Kansas Cities and several other smaller cities. Many of the attractions of GKC are located on the Missouri side and there for the use of all the GKC area.

Years ago my friend gave me a beautiful sweatshirt with the KC Plaza lights outline on front and back. On the front in small letters off to the side it says Only on the Plaza. I love this sweatshirt. Any idea where I can purchase another. I believe she purchased it at the then Jones Store. Thanks

Kris, the two places I would try are the KC airport and
    The Kansas City Store
Country Club Plaza 314 Ward Parkway 816-756-1997
Union Station 30 West Pershing Road 816-283-8282

Kansas City seems to be a great place to live.
    I love fountains.
Do you know why there are so many of them?
  • PatinKC Jul 5, 2010 @ 12:00 pm | delete
According to kcfountains.org, the first fountains in Kansas City were designed by the Humane Society to provide water for horses and dogs.

When private fountains came into fashion in the late 1800s, J. C. Nichols, a prominent real estate developer in Kansas City, started buying and investing in fountains to beautify his residential developments and the Country Club Plaza.

We lived in KC for 9 years and it's a great place to live. We've moved back to St.Louis but our son and family still live in KC so we get to visit often. I love the fountains, love Country Club Plaza...and really love the Christmas lights and how the make a big deal of it on Thanksgiving night. Crown Center is great too! Really good places to eat in KC.

I have been looking for T Shirts or Sweatshirts with a picture of KC Fountains and a logo of K.C. City of Fountains. Something like that but I haven't found any. Do you have any ideas.
