Midnight Revelations

by Karen M. Bence

Book one of the Dark Whispers Series. When Sara Miller, her husband David and their young son Jack move into an old horse farm, they don't know that the place is haunted by tragedies that befell its previous owners. Soon chilling events begin to take place. Sara discovers a locked diary, has strange dreams of people she doesn't know, and sees the ethereal reflection of a tormented woman in an antique mirror. When Jack is rendered comatose in a bizarre accident, Sara, in desperation, goes to a nearby church and meets the senior priest, the mystery man from her dreams. Resolved to find out what lies behind the strange events at the farm, Sara stumbles across the key to the diary... as well as the key to her own past. Who really are her parents? What grave secret is the old estate hiding? And what will become of Jack? A deliciously frightening book for readers who love the concept of a collision between the mundane and the supernatural.

Reviews

"Midnight Revelations by Karen M. Bence will keep you up at night in a completely different way. When Sara and her family moves into a farmhouse in Virginia she feels like she has come home and perhaps she has! Strange things begin to happen to her that she can't explain. Out of the corner of her eye she starts seeing things that shouldn't be there. Too many "coincidences" occur and Sara begins to look for a deeper meaning behind all of these events. The mystery continues and the suspense builds throughout, keeping the reader guessing at every turn. Bence did a remarkable job in creating a ghost story that does not feel like a stereotype. While there are elements that the reader will recognize as common to all ghost stories the ambiance of this story is beautifully crafted. I could picture the field with the sound of the horses hooves pounding toward me and could imagine turning around to find nothing there. Chills crept up my spine as I read late into the evening... unable to put this story down." - Suzanne Nash, Book Worm Reviews
