Crocheting

I've been crocheting since I was a kid and within the past year have been making and selling scarves. This is a lens about my own scarves and not really a tutorial on crocheting. I will be listing links for helpful sites that I use though!

Etsy

There may be none or very few on my etsy right now since it's a bit warm. But be sure to check out my blujay (link below) if you would like one!
I lowered prices on a lot of my scarves, so check it out!
Etsy is a wonderful website where hundreds of creative people make and sell their items. It's a really neat site and you want it, it's there. The sellers and buyers are all really nice and helpful people. Support DIY!

Cotton & Wool

Recently my Mom and I have started using 100% cotton and wool yarns. She's been making market bags like crazy and I've gotten into making ipod cases, and other misc. stuffs with the cotton yarn.

Let me tell you, both types are so durable! Felting is such a crazy thing, just make something with wool, stick it in the washer and it's all felted. No crochet or knit holes, nothing.

Our stuff is available at the etsy link below.

Lion Brand Yarn

I love bright colors so if I find some weird looking yarn I snatch it up right away. Lion Brand has a lot of different types of interesting yarns. Especially their eyelash types. So far my absolute favorite to work with is a black eyelash with white strands in it called Fun Fetti.
They have all kinds of neat looking yarns and you can find them all at the website below!

Chenille

Chenille is a nice and warm yarn to work with. However it's really expensive, so I don't get to make as many scarves from it. Chenille mostly comes in darker colors, however there is this beautiful periwinkle blue that I've managed to find online.
So far I only have one chenille scarf up for sale at the moment. I've made some for people this past Christmas and I don't think they've taken them off since!

Other Yarns

I could have countless text boxes for all the yarns out there. There's all kinds of cool yarns out there, all you have to do is either google or go check out local craft stores.

Hobby Lobby generally has great sales on yarns.
JoAnn's seems to be geared more towards sewing, at least here it is, but they have coupons!!
Michaels is just a big mix of all kinds of stuff, also coupons!

And local craft stores are great to check out also. They seem to get the lesser sold yarns and supplies. So you'll definately be getting something that's unique.

Oh and here's a suprising note. You can find yarns at Dollar Tree's and other $1 shops. Yea. I was shocked too. It's just when there's an overflow of that particular yarn. Same with Big Lots, they'll get in yarn once in awhile too.

Basically you don't have to spend an arm and a leg for cool yarn.

Pictures of ready to sell scarves. May or may not be on etsy yet since it's getting a bit warm at the moment.

Misc Crochet Items

Another crochet project I've been doing a lot of lately is catch all holders. I made ipod cases for myself and my boyfriend and it definately helps protect our precious music supply. Also perfect for coins, cards, little stuffs that manage to end up that massive purse.

One of my new favorite items is a "soap cozy". Basically a washcloth that envelopes your favorite soap. I have it where you can snap close the washcloth so your soap doesn't fall right out. And you just rub together and it suds up. What's great about it is, these little cozy's save those little chunks of soap instead of just being thrown out and wasting.

Hats

And hats! I've been going crazy with crocheted hats. There is a link below where I've been getting patterns.
