My Adventures in Healing
- A Must See Movie
- We went to a New Age Church on Sunday with the intention to
watch the movie: The Secret.
But the equipment wouldn't cooperate.
So our friend and minister gave us the DVD to take home and view.
I couldn't ignore what I felt as I watched the movie. It focused
on principles I am sure you're all familiar with.
As am I: Principles such as the importance of gratitude and forgiveness. And bringing the wisdom of the spiritual masters into our every day lives.
Principles that emphasize the power of the subconscious mind through auto-suggestion to bring about everything we really, really want in this life time--but because of limiting beliefs, may feel we don't deserve to have.
And Principles such as strength, enlightenment, joy, prosperity
and love to neutralize the negatives such as shame, guilt, resentments and fear.
Oh, and how in order to heal others, we must first love and
heal ourselves.
yes, we've heard about these things a million times.
But may still be stuck in ruts and grooves where we have long failed
to feel the absolute Joy of Living moment by moment.
And that is what we must do: throw off all these limitations--because there are no boundaries to what is possible to achieve.
The narrators brought up example after example of drawing millions
and millions of dollars into their lives by the simple act of changing
their minds about money. Most of the narrators had been very poor
and in some cases, homeless at some point in their lives.
Forinstance: instead of looking at some wealthy person and secretly
thinking--that person is rich because she screwed people--
Or that money is the root of all evil--
Or that money creates greed--
You get the picture.
Instead of having so much anger regarding money, the idea is to say:
I am the master--money is my servant. I am the creator of my life,
in concert with the creative Divine Intelligence of the Universe.
I am The Conduit for Love, Prosperity, Joy, Abundance and Money --and FEEL the freedom. FEEL the depth of your positive emotions.
The Movie went on to define all areas of life where we are potentially blocked: relationships, health, and all examples of negative attitudes.
See this Movie--

Nurse, Heal Thyself!
Healing the self is the beginning of the healing journey.
How best to do this?
How have you been healed in the past, and how did it feel?
What spiritual practices have you previously practiced that
brought you strength that you continue to use to raise your
energy, to gather courage to meet the challenges of the job?
and every other challenge of life!
If you no longer are practicing meditation or yoga or any other
practice you once did regularly, what would it take to get back
to the practice--without excuses!!
Just do it!! Ask your angels for assistance! They will be
ecstatic that you remembered them.
You will be rewarded.

Nothing is as it should be. And everything is exactly as it is.
The first statement implies resistence to the dance of
life-- the second recognizes a situation for what it is,
and acceptance oversees all.
I remember this as I walk into the confines of my hospital walls.
We see scenerios all the time that we all proclaim, "NOT FAIR!!"
Who are we to say? But we certainly can say it is exactly as
it is--no more, no less.
I have to ask myself: What is in the realm of my ability to help,
to change the situation for the better, to help a grieving person,
to give comfort and grace?
As I think of ways to help other people, I must be constantly
on the lookout for all the ways I must heal.
Because I can't help anyone nor can I help myself as long as I
judge, lack acceptance and resist everything that presents --disguised as problems --but truly are opportunities for growth and enlightenment.
And continue to take good care of myself, every moment along the way.
-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=--=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-
"And what is as important as thinking," asked the Mind.
"Caring," answered the Heart.
- Favio
As I age wisely, I've come to realize that Not Thinking
is the heart of my own spiritual practice.
Everyday, I meditate, take long slow walks by the river that runs
by my house, and do my entrainment brain exercises--giving my brain
the same aerobic workout that the rest of my body enjoys with exercise.
And consequently, my mind slows down, and I feel at peace. I am taking care of myself, and can take better care of everyone else.
"Caring" is what a nurse does--in the framework of Being. We listen,
give what is needed, take care of machines and do a lot of
charting--not necessarily in that order.
Because of our ability to care in this state of Being, and ability
as healers, others in the healthcare arena may see nurses as weak
and as easy prey--to verbally abuse, to sexually harass, to make her think she is an idiot.
This is what needs to be healed within our profession. We need to
take back our strength and our courage. We need to stand together, and protect the new nurses coming in. We need to create a forum to make sure our voices are heard.
And continue to take good care of ourselves, every moment, with every breath.

Dear Friends,
I recently purchased a statue of Saint Francis and put him in the humming bird garden, just off a newly constructed patio. The statue continues to transform the entire area. Now when I look at the patio and garden, it feels protected and peaceful. The way the saint looks lovingly downward at the
bird in his hand brings solace to the mind who beholds this scene.
Then I went to a nearby church yard and in one of the gardens there was a very old statue of the saint. The look in the downward gaze of both statues can be described as pure humility.
I was dealing with a child abuse case at the time and the child in question was told by the courts that she had to go back and live with the accused who reportedly sodomized her for the first five years of her life.
I kept praying for Divine Intervention in this situation and for the maturity to avoid making judgements and harsh statements that put down the child's alleged abusers.
Remaining nonjudgemental is an exercise in humility. Wasting time and energy visualizing a horrible outcome and railingagainst the bureaucracy that make these decisions--is a great example of arrogance, by forgetting that the higher powers are working for the greatest good of all concerned.
And thinking further of the simplicity of the Saint Francis figure, who attracted all the animals to his side, I am reminded of the dogs who go with me whereever I move or walk.
The beauty of the animals reminds me to be a channel for
Universal Love and Peace.
This is the real lesson in humility.
P.S. Please send this along to all of your friends!!!

One cannot help others by taking on their troubles, nor can
the world be saved by carrying burdens as a sign of caring.
It is far more practical to concentrate upon the beneficial
aspects of the culture and to observe the accomplishments of
people, rather than making mental lists of their deficiencies
and lacks, thus eliminating effective action.
The idea is not to ignore the dire circumstances of the world,
but to acknowledge one's own strength and creativity, and from
that viewpoint, look at those areas in need of constructive help.
I felt it was important to enlarge upon feelings of well-being
and spontaneity and to encourage the feelings and activities that bring them about. Unfortunate life situations should have no power over us if we realize that events do not exist by themselves: they exist first in the mind. If every person changed her attitude, the world will change for the better. Empowering new laws would follow.
The ideal is to join with every human being, all living creatures, the sun, earth, wind and flower. Prayer connects us to all things in the universe. This is why it works so well to bring about healing.
Another ancient art that is powerfully helpful is to tune into
the message of our dreams. This requires an acknowledgment that
beneath the world we know, there is another. Adjacent to our familiar focus there are other realities that are just as legitimate. We can draw from these worlds to heal our lives.
Long term illnesses have often resolved suddenly through a dream or dream series. Dreams often allow for the prevention of a chronic condition without our having any conscious awareness of how this happens.
I had a vision for my calling as a nurse. I wanted to be the kind of person who could stimulate my patients to pursue personal potential in a strictly unique style, to pursue and develop awareness as a prerequisite to peace of mind. The official, accepted view of the world no longer applied, then and now, as new suppositions of the will are built upon and encouraged to evolve, bringing a new base and foundation upon which to formulate individual and cultural action, as a manifestation of life-as art form.
Medicine as an art form rests on these principles: a spontaneous and life giving approach, an evaluation of exteriorly manifested conditions as a reflection of attitudes and beliefs, and the act of remaining flexible and playful in one's approach to life. The choice is a personal one. But once the journey has begun, the adventure becomes a colorful kaleidoscope of unpredictable action; the art-form never
finished, always giving to new creation.

-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= - Halloween
- My partner Tom and I went shopping for a Halloween costume last night at the wild and crazy Spencer's Gift Store. What halarity! Tom needed to dress up for a Halloween school function the next day, but is allergic to synthetic mask materials.
He is a teacher.
We almost bought a 6 1/2 foot tall vampire that loomed at the store's entrance and was successfully luring crowds of people inside to buy, buy, buy!!
I knew if we bought the dude, we'd never get rid of him--kinda like "What about Bob?"
So we bought a talking and singing skeleton head, who sings about no longer being alive with an insane grin on his face.
The skeleton will bring hours of entertainment to our Friday night pizza parties.
I can see it now--I'll bring him out................
We can laugh for awhile. meanwhile inwardly contemplating the nature of impermanence................

The Consciousness Scale
....by Davis Hawkins
scale.
The scale is a practical tool to keep our focus on the states of mind that make us feel GOOd ((GOD)).
Read more in Dr. David Hawkin's book "Power vs. Force."
Hawkins states that he has reached a highly advanced state of awareness by Divine grace and via decisive life experiences. In his works
he approaches the study and practice of spirituality by means of his personal experience and his clinical and academic background.
The stated objectives of Hawkins' research and teaching are to facilitate metaphysical understanding and to confirm the reality of spiritual truth in the individual as well as society, focusing on subtle contextual
aspects of consciousness and the road to enlightenment.
Life overview and professional stages
Born in Milwaukee on June 3, 1927, David Ramon Hawkins is the son of Ramon Nelson and Alice-Mary (McCutcheon) Hawkins. He grew up in rural
Wisconsin. At the age of 12 years as a paperboy, in winter, he had a near-death experience (NDE). Serving in the U.S. Navy from 1945-1946
during World War II, he was aboard a minesweeper between June and August before Japan surrendered. After the war he earned a B.S. in pre-med
from Marquette University (1950) and received a medical degree (M.D) from the Medical College of Wisconsin (1953). Hawkins underwent five
years of his own Freudian psychoanalysis in New York while he trained to be a psychiatrist to take up his profession in 1953, leading to
the American Psychiatric Association 50-Year Distinguished Life Fellows honor (May, 2004).
As a seeker and later on researcher of truth all his life, he was left unsatisfied by the array of information in the volumes of the Great Books
of the Western World. Calling himself a "misfit", he gravitated towardunconventional methods privately as well as professionally.
He married Margaret Hawkins, with whom he has one daughter. Due to his spiritual conversion in January 1965 and the course of subsequent life
changes they divorced. In 1979 Hawkins gave up his large practice for a seven-year-period of a frugal life in Arizona as a hermit. After 12
years of spiritual study and meditation, he relearned worldly manners again
to become an "ordinary man."
Susan Humphrey, later his second wife,
entered his life in 1991, being the one, who strongly insisted that he publish his findings.
Consciousness Scale, Continued
Using This Scale Will Change Your Life
about his extraordinary spiritual states such as his first memory,
a sudden awareness of existence, at the age of 3, his NDE as a youngster,
sensing the "excruciating immensity of the suffering of mankind" at 16,
and his claimed enlightenment at 38 years, which he believes terminated
his personhood, followed by his unity experience in 1977 in Rothman's
Restaurant in Long Island.
Quotations by David R. Hawkins
On effective change
"We change the world not by what we say or do, but as a consequence of what
we have become. Thus, every spiritual aspirant serves the world."
The Eye of the I, p. 69
On the ego/false God
"From the viewpoint of the evolution of consciousness, atheism results
from the refusal or inability to let go of the illusion that the
narcissistic core of the ego is sovereign and is the source of one's
life and existence." Truth vs. Falsehood, p. 356
On teaching/teachers
"The true [spiritual] teachers can be seen to have no interest in fame
or in having followers, prestige or trappings [...] The teachings and
not the teacher are what is important. Inasmuch as the teachings do not
come from the personage of the teacher at all, it does not make sense to
idolize or worship the personage. The information is transmitted as a
gift because it was received as such." The Eye of the I, p. 37
On his enlightenment experience
"There was this miraculous change. .... it is so far reaching and [%u2026]
so far beyond ordinary human experience. [%u2026] Now everything is transformed.
[%u2026] And there is absolutely nothing you can say about it. [%u2026] Whatever
had been my individual self was struck dumb with awe. It was awesome
beyond all meaning of the word to be the witness of the presence
of that which is in its naked expression as all existence. [%u2026]
Although the mind has stopped one is at one with all that is
known. There is, in the instant, the experience with those attributes
of God described as omniscience, omnipresence, and omnipotence.
The power is infinite. The knowingness is also infinite. All things
are known. It doesn't mean that all things are denoted by the intellect,
because one would have to have an interest in such things. It is like
in the presence of omniscience that all things are knowable, therefore
one doesn't bother knowing about the specific."

What Can We Achieve??
Limitless Compassion, The Key To Balanced Health, Is Apparent After Watching This Short Video
Thousand-Hand Guan Yin
As long as you are kind and there is love in your heart A thousand hands will naturally come to your aid As long as you are kind and there is love in your heart You will reach out with a thousand hands to help others .Guan Yin is the bodhisattva of compassion, revered by Buddhists as the Goddess of Mercy. Her name is short for Guan Shi Yin. Guan means to observe, watch, or monitor; Shi means the world; Yin means sounds, specifically sounds of those who suffer. Thus, Guan Yin is a compassionate being who watches for, and responds to, the people in the world who cry out for help. http://www.taoism.net/ikuantao/guanyin/home.htm
