Kathmandu, Nepal

The ancient city of Kathmandu is located high in the Himalayas, midway between India and China.

Mnay of the houses and shops of Kathmandu are hundreds of years of old with carved wooden windows. There are temples on almost every corner.

Tourist attractions include Durbar Square where you can see a complex of temples and the home of the Living Goddess.

West of the city is the renowned Swayambhu (or Swayambhunath) Temple, with its al-seeing eyes watching in all directions. This temple is often referred to as the monkey temple, due to the hundreds of monkeys that live therein.

On the banks of the Bagmati River on the eastern side of Kathmandu is is Pashupatinath, Nepal's most important and sacred Hindu temple.
