Personal Goals for 2011 by Pretty Bullet (Kathy) - A Goals 2011 Quest for Giant Squids

Ranked #5,023 in Squidoo Community, #345,476 overall

The first time I have thought about goals

This is something I really had to think about. To be honest, I really struggled with starting this lens, and I think it is because I rarely think of myself. Don't get me wrong, it isn't that I don't like myself, I just don't think about me very much LOL especially as I usually just live day by day. To me, tomorrow will be what tomorrow will be, I don't usually worry too much past that. Keep in mind that I'm not a spring chic any more (older and retired) and very happy with my life and where I am in it.

So let's get going and see what I come up with .......

Goals 2011 Quest for Giant Squids

Quest from HQ

Sometimes you make lenses to tell stories, sometimes you make lenses to earn money -- we think it's time to take 10 minutes to make a lens just for you, just to focus on helping you visualize your goals for 2011.

According to Yogi Berra, "If you don't know where you're going, you might not get there."

We think a goal visualization lens is a good way to help you get right where you want to be a year from now.

To complete this quest you'll need to craft a lens that focuses on 5 goals that you'd like to acheive in 2011. These goals can be Squidoo related, or not. They can be short term goals, or stepping stones towards a much bigger long term goal that you've set for yourself.

Visualizing your goals, and being held accountable for them, by way of a lens that your friends, family, neighbors, and boss might see, just might help you increase the odds of seeing your dreams through to fruition.

Complete your goal visualization lens before January 15, 2011 and we'll send you something else just for you, 200 SquidPoints!

Goal #1 - Get Fit

type=textI have actually already started my first goal, I decided this year that I have to get more fit. I have a lens that you can track my progress. I find it helps making a lens because:

1 - you make it public, so it's hard to ignore or hide from it LOL
2 - I hope it might help or inspire someone else
3 - it makes it more fun

Now, I don't want to become an athlete or anything, I just want to get more fit in general for my overall health. I lead a very sedentary life, so I need to build up my physical stamina and strength, tone up, and maybe loose a few pounds.

Come on, follow my progress

Goal #2 - Put in that darn Veggie Garden!

type=textI have talked for years about putting in a small vegetable garden. I don't know why I struggle with this. I know to keep it small and manageable, I don't want to overwhelm myself and even know what veggies I would plant.

This would be so beneficial for me because I love vegetables, they are my main food group, and the quality of vegetables here is just awful.

I really just have to figure out where I want to put it and then bring in some good soil as we live on pure sand.

I really hope I can meet this goal, I have wanted a veggie garden for so long.

Goal #3 - Squidoo

type=textI have a few Squidoo goals. This year I would like to:

1 - maintain my activity on Squidoo (visits and posting)
2- serve as a Squid Angel
3 - reach 200 lenses by the end of the year
4 - increase my monthly income by 20%

Goal #4 - New Kitchen Flooring

type=textWhen we bought our home almost 20 years ago, the kitchen floors were awful. At the time we had two very active dogs and we figured the quickest solution was to carpet the kitchen floor. We did this and it worked out well. It is a peach carpet and the kitchen had peach accents. It looked really pretty.

Last year I replaced all the peach accents and now have stainless steel accessories and the windows now have ivory blinds with dark brown valances.

The peach carpet looks a little out of place now and I think the time has come that I need to rip out the carpet and we both would like to put in wood floors. We started to talk about this last year and I really would like to get this new flooring in this summer.

This one will be the most difficult to do, as we have a few projects already planned for this year; one being that we need to finish the shingles, we did the back half of the roof last year, so need to finish the front.

Goal #5 - Donations

type=textEvery year, we always give donations to our favourite charities, it's our way of giving back. We aren't rich, but we have had a good life and I am thankful for many things. The needs get greater every year for all these organizations, so I would like to increase our donation budget.

One of my newest favorite charities is below, and hope you might consider it in your future. And I learned of this charity here on Squidoo by meeting a wonderful Squidoo Lensmaster! * waves at Susan *

A new way we are increasing our donations

Donations to a wonderful animal rescue center

The BuckHawk Center is a nonprofit organization providing rescue, rehabilitation and adoption where possible for animals in need, located in Southern Missouri.

I have given up of making a list of goals, as I never follow my list and it makes me too tense.

You have some pretty ambitious goals for 2011, but I think you'll pull it off. I think a lot of lensmasters probably lead the same sedentary lifestyle you mentioned in your fitness goals lens, so I think we can relate. Working online has a lot of positives, but its sedentary nature isn't one of them. One of my goals for 2011 was to get up from the computer more often and take breaks to exercise my legs, eyes and arms.

You have a great set of goals -- I especially like your "Put in that darned veggie garden!" I have a couple goals like that, that I know I'd enjoy the rewards from doing it, but they just haven't happened. (Luckily my husband puts in our veggie garden!)
