Katiyana's Collectibles Christmas Collectibles
Katiyana's Collectibles has an extensive collection of Christmas themed doll and bear sweaters as part of my collection. This lens is dedicated to showing off those designs. All of these handmade doll clothes and bear clothes are available for purchase at my website. These items are all knit by myself on a made-to-order basis, allowing to pick the colors used to make it, and select customization options (which vary by design).
Combined shipping & handling is available if you purchase multiple items. Additionally, because my items are all made to order, you can select the colors used to make them.
I also have a Super Shopper Reward Program available - for every $40 in merchandise purchased, you earn a gift certificate redeemable for a free sweater! You can redeem it yourself or give it as a gift, it comes with a self-address stamped envelope for returning it to me.
(Christmas is December 25, 2008)
It's never too early to start shopping for Christmas!
When buying handmade items, you need to allow extra time for the creation process in addition to shipping time. So it is never too early to start your holiday shopping! Here is one example of a smart buyer who got a jump start of her holiday shopping, its the Build A Bear sized Christmas Tree sweater with embedded beadwork for decorations.
Don't forget about Christmas in July sales! I have this annually at my website - 10% off your order of Christmas themed items for Christmas in July! Below is the marketing postcard I've used the past couple of years to advertise the sale - sent to my customers from the prior year. Once I use these up, I'll change the URL to my new website where its easier to run promotions.
Check out my Christmas designs....
with a few Halloween ones thrown in the mix...
Christmas Tree Sweater
With or without decorations, this is one of my favorite designs.
Because a Christmas tree is basically a triangle sitting on a rectangle, its pretty easy to knit into a sweater. But to make mine stand out, I have added decorations to the tree. Initially I sewed colored buttons onto the sweater as pictured to the right, but recently I added the option to have beads knit directly into the sweater. This is a great new knitting technique for me, and I think they look great!
Christmas Snowman Sweater
Another one of my popular designs
It could be for winter as well, but I love my Snowman design a lot. With a few buttons and a couple of stitches for eyes, it's a very popular design from my collection. Christmas Present Sweater
A motif with a couple of extra customizable options available
My Christmas Present sweater was another customer requested design - my buyers are my best designers. This sweater is shown as a white sweater, with red package, and yellow ribbon - but buyers can custom select the sweater color, package color, and ribbon color! Christmas Train Engine sweater
What would Christmas be without the electric train running under the tree?
This train engine motif sweater has two buttons for wheels, and chugs along on the sweater color of your choice. Gingerbread Man sweater
A Christmas classic snack works on a sweater too!
I created the Gingerbread Man sweater for another project - a Christmas Boutique called the Gingerbread House. It became a good design to add to my collection for Christmastime. Christmas Candy Cane Sweater
Another holiday classic
I have a red and white candy cane on a navy sweater (to make the candy cane pop more), but as always the colors can be customized to whatever you like! Christmas Angel Sweater
This one is a holiday classic, and is my interpretation of an angel with her wings. Christmas Star Sweater
Another classic Christmas theme, this six pointed star motif is a recent addition to the collection. I also carry Christmas Decorations as well
I have three designs available.
The first is a Snowman Centerpiece, with a top hat, and crocheted body. The second are Christmas bells that are crocheted for hanging on the tree, or sitting on the mantle. They each have small bells inside of them, so they actually ring. The third is a treetop angel. These are currently available at my original website. Where to buy these holiday items?
At one of two websites - links are below
My doll sweaters and bear sweaters are all available at my website. I have 5 sizes available - 18 inch American Girl dolls, 16 inch Cabbage Patch Kid dolls, 15 inch Bitty Baby dolls, 17-18 inch Build A Bear Workshop animals, and 14 inch Build A Bear cubs. The Christmas decorations are available at my original website. Eventually these will also be added to my main website, which will be the core for all of my doll clothes, bear clothes, and holiday decorations.
The History of Christmas
So where did these Christmas themes and traditions come from, have you ever wondered about that? I have - so here is some information you might find interesting.
Christmas (), also referred to as Christmas Day, is an annual holiday celebrated on December 25 that commemorates the birth of Jesus of Nazareth.Christmas, Merriam-Webster. Retrieved October 6, 2008."Christmas," MSN Encarta. Retrieved October 6, 2008."Christmas", The Catholic Encyclopedia, 1913. The day marks the beginning of the larger season of Christmastide, which lasts twelve days. The nativity of Jesus, which is the basis for the anno Domini system of dating, is thought to have occurred between 7 and 2 BC.Smith, Mark D. "Of Jesus and Quirinius." Catholic Biblical Quarterly; Apr2000, Vol. 62 Issue 2, pp292-293.Pearson, Brook W. R. "The Lucan Censuses, Revisited." Catholic Biblical Quarterly; Apr99, Vol. 61 Issue 2, p282. December 25 is not known to be Jesus' actual date of birth, and the date may have been chosen to correspond with either a Roman festival"Christmas", EncartaRoll, Susan K., Toward the Origins of Christmas, (Peeters Publishers, 1995), p.130.Tighe, William J., "Calculating Christmas". or the winter solstice.Newton, Isaac, Observations on the Prophecies of Daniel, and the Apocalypse of St. John (1733). Ch. XI.A sun connection is possible because Christians consider Jesus to be the "sun of righteousness" prophesied in Malachi 4:2.
Modern customs of the holiday include gift-giving, Church celebrations, and the display of various decorations?including the Christmas tree, lights, mistletoe, nativity scenes, and holly. Santa Claus (also referred to as Father Christmas, although the two figures have different origins) is a popular mythological figure often associated with bringing gifts at Christmas for children. Santa is generally believed to be the result of a syncretization between Saint Nicholas and elements from pagan Nordic and Christian mythology, and his modern appearance is believed to have originated in 19th century media.
Christmas is celebrated throughout the Christian population, but is also celebrated by many non-Christians as a secular, cultural festival. Because gift-giving and several other aspects of the holiday involve heightened economic activity among both Christians and non-Christians, Christmas has become a major event for many retailers.
