Hurricane Katrina Aftermath Pictures

This is a Photo Diary of a Trip I took to New Orleans Halloween Weekend 2005. They are my personal photos that chronicle the damage caused to the city by Hurricane Katrina. This Weekend is the 2nd Anniversary of Katrina Hitting my former home, I thought it was an appropriate time to share them.

I lived in New Orleans from 2001-2005 while attending Tulane University.

Along with each picture I have included local works from local new orleans artists, many of which lost their homes, livelihoods, belongings, or even friends and loved ones. Many have since returned, to rebuild.

Dead Trees older than the US

These Tree Stumps came from trees that were torn from the ground. Many of these ancient oaks and willows were older than the United States and would have lived much longer than you or I. Now they are driftwood that had to be cleared by rescue workers....

The photos you had reminded me of all the things that I witnessed myself when I went back to New Orleans after Katrina. I had lived in the area for about a year and a half before, and I miss what it used to be like. I stayed for six months after Katrina, and the heartache and depression of it all got the best of me. I will never forget my friends and I will never forget all the fun I had. Your pictures brought back memories for me that I tried to forget, but never will. Thank you for that.
