Born Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, Katy Perry released her first album under the name of Katy Hudson back in 2001. She was sixteen at the time and it was a ten track album of Christian gospel music released through the Red Hill record label. She later made the switch across to pop music and hence the 'One of the Boys' album which is now available today. 'One of the Boys' is the first full album released under the name of Katy Perry and is also Perry's first major label release.

Katy Perry cites Queen as her biggest influence and also is influenced by the likes of Alanis Morissette, Cher, Cyndi Lauper, and Shirley Manson amongst others. She has an interest in rock as well as pop and hence her pop rock sound. Perry signed to Capitol Music in early 2007 and it is Capitol who have released here 'One of the Boys' album.

Perry was actually born in Santa Barbara, California; at the age of 18 though she moved to Los Angeles though and it was here that her music career really began to take off. Her musical career has been threatening to explode for several years now, record label troubles throughout the years has delayed the inevitable though and in 2008 her 'One of the Boys' album was of course unleashed. Several years of record label hurt and Katy Perry's popularity had finally hit.

'One of the Boys' marks an exciting new chapter in the career of Katy Perry, it's her first major label album and what an album it is too. It's been a long time coming, it's here now though and despite mixed reviews is selling incredibly well too. Katy Perry is a fun, rising contemporary pop artist and surely has a fantastic future ahead of her in the wonderful world of music.
