Kauai the Garden Island of Hawaii

This was a view from our room at the Sheraton Kauai Resort...our room overlooked the Garden, it was beautiful. We sat on our lanai and had coffee and breakfast looking at this beautiufl view most mornings.

The Flower for the State of Hawaii is the Hibiscus. These tropical flowers come in many different colors and have a slight fragrance. Here is a yellow one.

This was a beautiful calm river in Kauai, called the Wailua River. My husband and I did a kayaking and hike trip on this river. We had a great guide, just a young fellow his name was Linden. He was born and raised in Kauai so he could tell us lots of cool history and information along the way. There was 14 of us on this kayaking trip ranging in age from 20 something to a couple in their 70's. What a fun day that was.

Okay, I'll tell you but you better keep it a secret. These falls are called 'The Secret Falls' They can only be seen if you do this kayaking and hike adventure as they are tucked away. They were amazing to watch and we went for a swim and some photos under the huge waterfall. It was a hot sunny day when we were there so the water felt so good.

I took this picture when we were on a hike along a stream. It was so beautiful!

This man had a nice shady spot along a tour viewpoint. He was weaving hats and baskets of all shapes and sizes. Very cool!

These flowers were surrounding a walkway on a tour we took. Beautiful colors!

I didn't even know that Kauai was known also for it's Grand Canyon of Hawaii. This was an amazing site to view. After driving a long windy road we reached the viewpoints. The drive is definitely worth it, they even offer bus tours for those that would rather be driven as a group. Great opportunity for photographers, what a dream!

Kauai has some beautiful beaches and oceans. Perfect for snorkelling, surfing, swimming and just viewing.
