Feronia Lemonia or Kawis

Kawista Tree (Kawis) likes dry areas. The trunk is relatively small and can reach up to 12 meters high with slender branches and twigs, and has a habit of shed leaves. Kawista tree branches (Limonia acidissima) is usually overgrown with thorns. Compound leaves measuring up to 12 centimeters long, and child leaves opposite, two to three pairs.

Kawista usually clustered flowers with white or green and red. Flower or leaf out of the armpit is located at the end of the branch. Kawista fruit is round, hard and scaly-skinned, brown and white. Aromatic flesh blackish brown.

Kawista fruit that has been quite ripe will fall by itself. Because the skin of the fruit is hard, though fallen fruit will not be damaged.

Kawista tree grows in tropical areas with dry soil conditions. Fruit-producing plants is a lowland plant that can grow up to an altitude of 400 mdpl.

Kawista grow naturally in areas of Sri Lanka, India, Myanmar and Indochina, then spread to Malaysia and Indonesia. Tree Kawista also been introduced to America. In Indonesia, Kawista grows naturally in coastal areas north of the island of Java.
