Your Dog or Cat is a Potential Pet-Snatcher Victim
Keep pets out of laboratories
Does my dog need to hide under the covers to avoid abduction by those who want to make money by selling her to a research laboratory?
Love animals? You don't even have to own a pet to make a difference now to protect thousands of dogs and cats in America. This is one important issue that no one can hide from by saying, "I'm just one person," "What can I do, I'm not the ASPCA?" Or, "I'm too busy."
Everyone ~ Everyone can contact their United States senator and congressperson to let them know you want them to pass the federal Pet Safety and Protection Act, which would prohibit Class B dealers and unlicensed breeders and others from selling dogs and cats to research laboratories. Do it now!
Oh, let's see, Do it now! Further down this page there's a link for you contact your Federal LawMakers. EasyPeasy! Everyone can do it!!
The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) says Class B Dealers are "people who collect dogs and cats to sell to the research industry. They sometimes obtain their animals through illegal or unethical means, such as by responding to "free to good home" ads in newspapers, falsifying records to keep the true origins of the animals unknown and stealing pets kept outside in yards. They also buy animals in bulk from "bunchers," whose methods are even more questionable."
ASPCA also would like for Americans to eliminate Class B Dealers. By taking away the profit motive of bunchers we could provide a much-needed extra layer of protection for beloved pets. The idea of my dogs or your cats being stolen or acquired under false pretenses and sold to facilities that test on animals makes me angry. Angry enough at least to pick up the phone and call my legislators.

Here's the Skinny
Pet Safety and Protection Act: Sale of Dogs and Cats to Research Institutions S. 1834/H.R. 3907
ASPCA Position: Support
Action Needed: Send a letter to your representative and senators urging them to support and cosponsor the Pet Safety and Protection Act, a bill to amend the Animal Welfare Act to ensure that all dogs and cats used by research facilities are obtained legally.
Here's what ASPCA says about what will happen if the law passes: The Animal Welfare Act would be amended sothat the only people who would be allowed to sell dogs and cats to research facilities would be:
1. Dealers who have bred and raised the animals.
2. Publicly owned pounds or shelters that obtained the animals from their legal owners.
3. A person donating a dog or cat whom they have bred and raised, or owned for at least one year.
(These categories of people are already allowed to sell to research. The Pet Safety and Protection Act would not change that or give them more rights than they currently have.)
How Fast Can You Contact Your Senator? Your Congressman?
What else can we do to stop the sell of pets to research laboratories?
How else - besides this lens/page at Squidoo - can we encourage everyone to get this bill passed?
Fetching blurbs now... please stand byThe best way is to phone my Congressman and tell my Senator I want him/her to pass the Pet Safety and Protection Act.
No way, Monkeybrain! There's much more we can do!

ASPCA helps make it as easy as throwing a ball to contact your senator or congressperson.
Thank you for supporting this important issue!
By all means use >>this email service to send a letter. It would make an even bigger impression if you also phone their offices. It only takes a moment. And, while you probably won't speak to the lawmaker directly, you can leave a message with the receptionist or secretary. He or she will want your home town zip code, so they can keep up with where the "it" people, the "thinking people" in their state reside. And, where the people live who care about this issue. Are your pets, or your neighbors' pets safe? What might happen when you aren't looking is spooky and mean all year long.

Are you doing all you can to keep her and other loyal pets safe from abductions?

It Only Takes A Little To Help A Lot ~

This CD from Amazon, ASPCA and the A & E channel highlights the REAL way to treat animals

The patients can't tell the doctors what is wrong in fact, they're quite likely to bite. And the only thanks they might offer is a wagging tail, but the men and women who minister to sick and injured animals are among the most dedicated healers in the world. This one-of-a-kind program goes behind the scenes at New York City's ASPCA veterinary clinic for an up-close look at animal medicine today. It's a hectic place, where the howls and cries of injured animals mingle with the emotions and demands of their distraught owners. Against this backdrop, highly-trained veterinarians labor to heal people's beloved companions, with an amazing amount of high-tech machinery at their disposal. But here, owners are often forced to put a price on love, choosing between expensive treatment and putting their pet to sleep. Incredible footage and revealing interviews with the men and women who work there make ANIMAL E.R. a fascinating examination of veterinary medicine. This wonderful CD entertains, educates and fascinates everyone who sees it. Please go here for information or to buy

- I think everything should be done to protect our pets and all animals. The people that sell animals should be shut down along with all the laboratories.
