Spending time alone together
Even when you do have children
However, couples work enough at home and away from home so, while there is always the necessity to pay bills, pick up groceries and tend to household obligations, couples need to spend time doing activities which continue to draw them closer as a couple, from a romantic standpoint.

Ideas you may wish to explore or entertain
Of course, you may have your own ideas
**These points will be examined in greater detail throughout the lens.**
- Laugh together
- Talk about good times
- Read together
- Enjoy spending time in front of the fireplace
- Candlelight dinners
- Spend time outside
- Visit the mountains
- Surprise your partner
- Have a "dream night"
“It's important to laugh and play together; it energizes you and creates delightful memories.”
Laughing together
Tell funny jokes and act silly just to make the other smile or laugh. It doesn't matter if you feel crazy or insane for a little while; it only makes you human and enjoyable to be around.
It brings endearing qualities to the surface which may, otherwise, be forgotten.
It also releases a lot of tension and stress from external sources and makes any day look brighter.
“Couples get caught up in daily life so that most days pass in a blur of activity; it makes me weep.”
Talk about things
It doesn't matter what you talk about as long as you are communicating
Couples develop routines. They go to and fro, drop off and pick the children up from school/extracurricular activities, prepare meals, tend to housework and so on.
However, sometimes when the children go to bed, it's good for couples to sit back, relax and reminisce of days gone by.
Couples can talk anywhere: while sitting on a beach, walking a shoreline, relaxing in the yard or curled up on the couch, to name a few. Regardless of what they talk about, and where they go, they are spending time together with no distractions and that is of utmost importance.

Read together
Sometimes it's nice for couples to pick a book they are both interested in reading. The man can read one chapter and the woman can read the next. It draws couples closer because they love to hear the sound of their partner's voice. Also, they are getting the benefit of a shared story which they can discuss later since they both know the complete journey the story has taken.
Spend time in front of the fireplace
Or relax on a beach or in the back yard
Of course, an alternative for couples could be to relax on a beach or on the grass in their back yard if they prefer to be outside enjoying the beautiful weather. There are many options to explore; it doesn't matter what they do as long as they take some time to relax and enjoy each others' company for a while, leaving all forms of stress behind.

Take time to enjoy nature; it gives us much in return!
Candlelight dinners
- once again, it comes back to creating atmosphere.
Set your focus on each other
Let the world fade away as you zoom in on your partner
Later, to finish off the night with the same theme, there's always the possibility of a candle lit bath/shower experience before going to bed. The world disappears and couples are reluctant for the atmosphere to end, yet it accomplishes so much in keeping their relationship strong and united.
“Nature is so vast that it provides many couples with the opportunity to connect and bond.”
Explore new places and activities together
Enjoy nature no matter what part of the world you live in

Whether climbing mountains, skydiving, para-sailing, bungee jumping or carrying out numerous other activities, couples can marvel at the elements of nature surrounding them and experience some amazing thrills along the way, depending upon the activities they pursue.
For those who prefer to relax and not go to any extremes, they can walk a wooded trail, walk along a sandy beach or rocky shoreline, hike trails, have picnics and take photos to capture the breathtaking moments of their day. Of course, there's something special about sleeping under the stars with nothing obstructing the view - a pillow, air mattress and a few blankets and, as long as there is no rain forcasted, the evening teems with possibilities. Of course, deep conversations often arise when couples try to contemplate how big the universe is.

It's worth it when we take time to enjoy nature; we come across sights like these!
Visit the Mountains
Imagine standing at the base of a mountain which looms so high in the sky that it blocks the sunlight; I've been there.
It provides a spectacular feeling and, in couples, it has great potential to create a humbling sensation.
It changes their perspective on life because everything else - every trouble, every form of stress - seems insignificant in comparison to the size of the mountain in front of them.
Surprise your partner!
Plan an outing or event which is totally unexpected - something unimaginable. It doesn't have to be plane ticket to an exotic destination. It can be a dinner in a local restaurant where a partner walks in and sees a friend for the first time in five years. Imagine how joyous it would feel!Perhaps the surprise can be a dinner cruise or a trip to the city for a night or two. It may even be a trip to an island where you discover a magnificent landscape. Whatever the case, it's spontaneous and enjoyable and will definitely be experiences which will be mentioned time and time again and, possibly, told to future generations.
Dream Night
Talk openly about dreams and goals for the future.
When the day has settled down, talk to each other about your dreams. The conversation may have taken place at different points in the past but time changes people and, sometimes, dreams and goals take on new meaning or other dreams and desires take their place.
Light-heartedly sharing these hopes and dreams will keep couples informed as to what their partners value most and aspire to become in life ...and caring enough to pay attention to these details, however trivial they may seem, makes a positive difference in any relationship.
