Who is Kelley Armstrong ~ Author of The Women of the Otherworld Series

As a fan of Laurell K Hamilton, I needed something to read while waiting for the next Anita Blake novel to be published. Browsing the shelves at my local library, I came across a title that caught my attention. It was Bitten by Kelley Armstrong, and it was the first installment in the The Women Of The Otherworld series.

After reading the synopsis - a female werewolf trying to come to terms with her curse - I was intrigued and I took the book home. I fell in love with Bitten and had to get my hands on the rest of the series. On my next trip to the library, I checked out all of the Otherworld novels that were available and reserved the ones that were not. After a couple of weeks, I had read the entire series, and Kelley Armstrong had gained a fan for life.

Kelley Armstrong is married with three children; the family lives in rural Ontario. She was born in 1968, the oldest of four siblings in a "typical middle class family" in England. After graduating with a degree in psychology, Armstrong then switched to studying computer programming at Fanshawe College so she would have time to write.

Her first novel Bitten was sold in 1999, and it was released in 2001. Following her first success she has written a total of six novels and a number of novellas in the Women of the Otherworld series, and her first crime novel, Exit Strategy, was released July 2007. Armstrong has been a full-time writer and parent since 2002.

Her novel No Humans Involved was a New York Times bestseller in the hardback fiction category on May 20, 2007.

The Women of The Otherworld series is a fantastic set of novels and a pure treat to read. They feature a cast of several different women with supernatural talents. From werewolf, to vampire, to witch, and more, these women deal with their powers and there lives in their own unique way. The books are narrated from the women's point of view and it gives the storyline a unique feel.

The Nadia Stafford series is a straight thriller featuring Nadia Stafford, an ex-cop turned hitwoman. The first book in the set is Exit Strategy. It's still suspense, in the same vein as the Otherworld series, but without any paranormal elements.

Kelley's young adult novels include the Darkest Powers series and The Darkeness Rising series. These books are designed for young adult readers. These series' will run parallel to the Otherworld series, but will not intersect the storyline.
