July, 2008. New Book. New Genre. New World.

Salve.

Welcome to the world of Nox Dormienda.

It's a world where Romans and Brits and everything in between mix uneasily on the muddy Londinium streets, eyes fixed and glazed on the odds for the arena show.

It's a world where beauty is be found places unexpected, from the rich halls of the governor's palace to a gleaming torque on an old man's neck.

It's a world where a little boy witnesses his mother slaughtered by her own people ... and still becomes a healer.

It's a world where a man who's looking for something can find it ... sometimes without looking at all...

Nox Dormienda is the first of a new kind of historical fiction. Blending the backdrop of first century Roman Britain with the atmosphere of hard-boiled noir, it is a genre sui generis. It's Roman Noir.

About kellistanley

Kelli Stanley is a mystery writer.  Her debut
novel, Nox Dormienda (A Long Night for Sleeping), will be available in
July, 2008, from Five Star Mysteries.

Armed with a Master's Degree in Classics and a love of all things Chandler, she created the genre of Roman noir with Nox Dormienda, the first novel of the Arcturus series.

As a scholar, she writes and lectures internationally on a variety of subjects from Sallust to Superman, and her
published work can be found in academic books and journals.

Kelli also likes to travel on trains, play with her dog,
listen to New Orleans
jazz, talk to the cat, and swig strong bourbon on cold nights. Occasionally,
she will sing "See What the Boys in the Backroom Will Have" in the shower.

She is currently working on her third Arcturus novel, and is
researching a second series set in San
Francisco in 1939.

To read an interview with her and discover the history and
research behind the world of Roman Noir, visit Kelli's website. You can
