Kelpies
Welcome to yet another Twighlight Manor Lens. Our topic today: The Kelpie.
Kelpie: A type of faerie horse; part horse, part sea monster. One of my fave faerie creatures. Traditionaly one of Fae's darker faerie types, turned beloved colorful children's toy of today. Seen in Celtic folklore as well as modern day fantasy, Kelpies are also used in my Twighlight Manor series.

Kelpies As Seen in My Twighlight Manor Series
For some, it may seem odd that I would include Kelpies in my Twighlight Manor Lens Series. Kelpies are of course never actualy mentioned in my stories, so why should I include them in my series of lenses devoted to The Twighlight Manor and it's characters? Like other creatures in my stories I have sharpened my free writers lance and harponed everything that seems too normal and ordinary. In other words, while there are Kelpies in my stories, I have changed them from traditionally Kelpies of myth and folklore, and recreated them in my own version: The Diontite Horses.
Like the other Diontite creatures in my books, The Diontite Horses came to Earth from Planet Diona, where all of my Faerie type races come from. The Diontite Horses are fearsome beasts, much larger than earth horses. There are several types, though most common are solid black or pure white, with heavy fringing on their hooves and thick shaggy tails and manes. Most have either white or red eyes, though some have blue or yellow; the pupils being silver-wall-eye in color.
Of the traditional Kelpie types, my Diontite Horses, most resemble the Brackishwater Kelpies, both in appearance and in actions. Diontite Horses are feirce creatures, not easily tamed, and known for trampeling ant man who tries. It is rare to find one that has been tamed, but once tamed they become very loyal to their master, and often kill any it deems enemies of it's master.
Most famous of the Diontite Horses is of course Antaras, the favorite horse of The Lansquin, and the lead horse of a team of the six white Diontite Horses that pull The Silver Coach.
Besides the six white ones owned by The Lansquin, there are also the four black ones owned by Luke Swanzen.
All ten of these feirce creatures have been known to escape and lurk in the swamps around Suicide Island, Crystal Lake, and The Crystal Falls, where they have been known to attack humans and drag them into the deeps of Crystal Lake.

- Interesting lens. I`ve been researching kelpies (as well as selkies, nix and other water sprites) for a book that I`m working on, so it`s good to see another author out there with similar ideas.
