Kenji Tomiki Aikido
Kenji Tomiki Aikido was used as the first sport Aikido.
Kenji Tomiki first studied judo under Jigoro Kano, the founder of Kodokan judo, and began practicing aiki-jujutsu under Morihei Ueshiba with the encouragement of Kano himself. Kenji Tomiki developed his efficient aikido training system applying the twin principles of judo, "Maximum Efficiency with Minimum Effort" and "Mutual Benefit" enunciated by Professor Jigoro Kano.  also Kenji Tomiki was one of O-sensei's first students, already an 8th-dan Judo expert who trained with Judo founder Jigoro Kano before practicing Aikido, and eventually recieved an 8th dan from O-sensei himself.
Founders of their own schools of aikido are Gozo Shioda and Kenji Tomiki, who were among Ueshibas first students. The aikido that was developed along modern lines by Kenji Tomiki from the old aikido that was developed by Morihei Ueshiba from the aiki-jujutsu techniques of his master,
Sokaku Takeda. Some of the prewar students who did filter back to the Hombu Dojo were Kenji Tomiki, Gozo Shioda, Koichi Tohei, and Osawa and Okumura. One of the other big changes in Aikido history occured during O Sensei's life when Kenji Tomiki proposed "rationalizing" Aikido training using Kata and Competition.

(March 15, 1900-December 25,1979) was a Japanese aikido and judo teacher and the founder of aikido style Shodokan, often referred to as Tomiki Aikido.
Tomiki was one of the early students of the founder of aikido Morihei Ueshiba, and also of Jigoro Kano, the founder of judo. In 1925, the year he joined Morihei Ueshiba, he obtained 5th dan in judo. In 1929 he represented Miyagi Prefecture in the first judo tournament held in front of the Emperor - this tournament became the All Japan Tournament the following year. From 1936 till the end of the second world war he lived in Manchukuo (Manchuria)...
