Kentucky Unclaimed Money Search

I know it's tough to believe, but Kentucky, like all other states, is truly sitting on MILLIONS OF DOLLARS in unclaimed money, just waiting to be reunited with its rightful owners (AKA, people like YOU!).  It's not a myth, it's not a scam, this is real missing money that folks have forgotten or abandoned by mistake, and it's coming back to us in massive quantities!

Bluegrass State?  More like Greenback state, am I right!?  Yeah, I said it!  Cheesy jokes aside, there's a very good chance you're owed money, and in these times of apparent recession, you owe it to yourself to search for your Kentucky unclaimed money!

Finding Unclaimed Money in Kentucky

Think you know how to perform a thorough asset search? Think again!

The Kentucky state treasury defines KY unclaimed money this way:

All intangible property unclaimed by its owner for a specific period of time, called the dormancy period. Unclaimed property may include dormant savings and checking accounts, unclaimed wages, dividends, credit balances and any type of outstanding checks.

Unclaimed property is handed over to the state after a "dormancy period", which varies from state to state and depends on the type of property. The state doesn't ever keep what your KY unclaimed money, they just hold it (and often earn interest on it) until you claim it.

The KY State Treasury doesn't outline the specific dormancy period for each type of property, but they do offer this bit of information:

That treasure is Kentucky's unclaimed property fund. Unclaimed property includes personal property or financial assets-such as abandoned savings and checking accounts, non-cashed checks, and travelers' checks-turned over to the state after a period of time, usually 3 years.
