Kershaw Ken Onion Boa 1580 Review

The folding knife has a recurve blade made of S30V stainless-steel, a high quality steel that could hold its sharpness for a relatively long time and has a good resistance to corrosion. The most important problem with this kind of steel and blade form is that it could be a bit more difficult to sharpen, so a high quality knife sharpener is in order to maintain the cutting ability of the knife.

The handle is light, made of anodized aluminum, and the design provides a fine comfortable grip in your hands.

One of the highlights of Kershaw knives is the SpeedSafe assisted opening mechanism. A torsion bar assists to maintain the blade closed preventing that it opens by accident, and at the same time permits a fast deploying with only one hand. In the Boa the thumb stud that commands the SpeedSafe device can be placed either the left or right side of the blade for an ambidextrous deploying.

To further ensure a safe use of the knife the Kershaw Boa comes with a locking liner to lock the blade into place after the blade is deployed.
