Mayfield Kentucky Officially Declared September 26th "Kevin Skinner Day"

Kevin is a humble man, who dreamed of making it big in a music career. He has shown the world what reaching for the stars wasn't out of his grasp. Your fans love you Kevin!

Kevin and his old band "Skinner and Friends" gave a free concert on September 26th 2009 in Mayfield, Kentucky in the United States of America. Mayor Arthur Byrn offically declared it to be "Kevin Skinner Day" and it  is now a national holiday that will be remembered in history books for the rest of time. What an honor to Kevin for his representation of Kentucky and America. Kevin's hopes and dreams far exceeded his expectations after winning on the Fourth-Season of America's Got Talent show on TV. Kevin won the One Million Dallar Prize, and was sent off with a celebration to go to Las Vegas to perform for ten weeks.

Kevin named his style of music "Bent Lemon" because it is something people would remember, if they heard it. Now he is known world wide by Kevin Skinner.

Mayfield, Kentucky held a free concert with Kevin and his old band "Skinner and Friends" on Sept. 26th 2009 and made it the official Kevin Skinner Day! Mayfield's Mayor Arthur Byrn gave Kevin the Key to the City of Mayfield and a plaque in honor and appreciation of all that he has done to bring attention to the City of Mayfield, KY and Graves County. Tony Smith, judge executive of Graves County handed Kevin a road sign that reads "Kevin Skinner Hwy", naming a road after him. Congressman Ken Winters presented Skinner with a flag and plaque from the State Offices in Frankfort signed by the members of State Office in appreciation of being a great representative for the State of Kentucky in the United States of America.

Mayfield is a city in Graves County, Kentucky, United States; with a population of about 10,350. There are at least 100 diners where alcoholic drinks are sold and at the Mayfield Golf and Country Club. There are no sales of alcoholic beverages permitted on Sundays, except at the Mayfield Golf and Country Club.

The Jackson Purchase region of Kentucky which includes Mayfield, was the area of strongest support for the Confederates during the Civil War. On May 29, 1861, a group of Southern sympathizers from Kentucky and Tennessee met at the Graves County Courthouse to discuss the possibility of aligning the Purchase with West Tennessee. A fire in 1887 destroyed most of the courthouse records of the event. In 1907, Fulton County judge Herbert Carr declared that the Mayfield Convention adopt a resolution for secession. A historical marker was placed in front of the courthouse proclaiming this fact. The surviving records of the meeting, authored by a Union sympathizer, make no mention of this resolution, and historian Berry Craig opines that the convention believed the whole of Kentucky would eventually secede and make a resolution for the Purchase to break away unnecessary. Records do show that the convention adopted resolutions condemning President Lincoln for waging a bloody war against the South, urging Governor Beriah Magoffin to resist Union forces and praising him for refusing to answer Lincoln's call for soldiers, and condemning the provision of Lincoln-guns to Union sympathizers in Kentucky. The convention also nominated Henry Burnett to represent Kentucky's First District in Congress. The Mayfield Convention was a precursor to the later Russellville Convention that formed the provisional Confederate government of Kentucky.

The event was held at 1107 Housman St., Mayfield, Kentucky 42066. There were more than 6,000 people who attended. Picture Of Kevin In Deep Thought

Mayfield KY

Patrick Kevin Skinner was born in the state of Kentucky in the USA on February 25, 1974 and is from the Jackson Purchase region. He is an American country music singer who at the age of 35 won the fourth-season of Americas Got Talent show in 2009. He won a million dollars and Kevin won by a landslide of votes, even the three judges on the show all voted for Kevin. I'm sure everyone in Mayfield voted for him every-time if possible.

Kevin has a God given talent that touches lives when he plays that guitar and starts to sing. Its no wonder that September 26th is now Kevin Skinner Day. He is married and has two children.

"Hello to Kevin and Kristen Skinner and your family :-) So THRILLED you won!!! we gave your our 10 votes each and that went for first quarter finals all the way to the final show you did before the win!!! As David Hassellhoff would say,"YOU DESERVE TO WIN!!" He said he can see you performing on a stage before thousands of people and now you are in Vegas with your name in lights, headlining the show!!! Very proud to be a Kentuckian and we live in Lexington,Ky. about 4-5 hours away. Hope you will get to do a concert at Rupp Arena someday soon. YOU ARE A STAR!!! So VERY happy for you and wish we couid make the trip to see your act,but i am a heart patient,Tim is a student in school on grants, so we just don't have the funds to get there. GOD BLESS YOU ALL and MAY YOU ALWAYS BE HAPPY!! You are a Very,Very genuine person and America loves you!! Can't wait for your first cd!!! Sincerely, Debbie & Tim"
~ "Tim and i are both originally from small towns. He from Ashland,Ky. (Boyd Co.) and i was from Nicholasville,Ky. (Jessamine). we have never been to Mayfield, but we see how wonderful you all are to Kevin and Kristen and their family. If i would ever live anywhere else someday, i think your town would be a beautiful place to live. Because you all sound like beautiful people. Can hardly wait for his music cd to come out. i saw somewhere on the internet that he said it may come out next april or may. is that about right? I bet he will have another million to add to the first one, because with all of America loving his music, he will probably be awarded a trophy for first gold record. i will be proud to buy his music and help him get there. It is very sweet how he gives his fans the credit. Just see the emotion on night of his win!!! "Thank You America!!"I LOVE YOU ALL"!!!! That was beautiful!!! I was so glad his mom and dad could go. i saw where there was 20 people there for him!!"
