Kevin Costner
Best known for movies like No Way Out, The Untouchables and his directorial debut, Dancing With Wolves, Kevin's also done some great smaller films that don't get as much attention as his big hits or big bombs like The Postman and Waterworld. I love the recent films, The Upside of Anger and Rumor Has It. And the 1993 film, A Perfect World, directed by Clint Eastwood, will always be one of my favorite Kevin Costner movies.
I always found him blandly attractive when he was younger, but now that he's in his 50s I think he looks better than ever. He wears his age well.

Recent Kevin Costner Movies
The Upside of Anger
Kevin Costner plays a drunk ex-baseball player trading on his former fame and Joan Allen plays a drunk divorced mom. Initially they get together primarily to have a drinking buddy, but eventually the relationship morphs into something deeper. This is a great movie and I love Kevin's performance in it. He also has great chemistry with Joan Allen.
Rumor Has It... (Widescreen Edition)
Kevin Costner is the object of attention for three generations of women in the same family. The conceit of the movie is that he and Shirley MacLaine are the characters on which The Graduate is based. Jennifer Aniston is the actual star of the movie, but Kevin's smaller role is fun and it is not hard to believe that three women of very different ages would have fallen for him.
Open Range
Costner loves his Westerns and this is another great one. It's quiet and unassuming, as is his performance. While this film has seen more redemption come Costner's way, I think it is still vastly underrated.
The Guardian
The Guardian is frequently cited as being "Top Gun on the Water", but actually I think it is much more like An Officer and a Gentleman. I didn't bother to see this in the movie theater because honestly it didn't sound that great at the time, but having watching the DVD I found I quite enjoyed it.
Kevin Costner Sports Movies
What is it with this man and baseball?
Tin Cup
Tin Cup has been a favorite of mine since its release. It's funny, Costner and Renee Russo have great chemistry and I like watching Kevin play golf like a crazy person.
Bull Durham
How many times have I watched this movie? You don't even want to know. Definitely a classic. I never gets old and Crash Davis is one of Kevin's greatest characters
For Love of the Game
From a box office perspective, For the Love of the Game was not one of Costner's more successful efforts so maybe by the time it came out people were sick of seeing him play baseball. It's a shame because I really like this movie -- it's a more mature and worldly Costner and I really like his performance in this. I also think he looks really gorgeous.
Field of Dreams (Full Screen Two-Disc Anniversary Edition)
I like Field of Dreams quite a bit, but it is probably my least favorite of the "baseball trilogy" and I find it is mostly because Costner is completely de-sexualized in this movie. It's a little too Disney-esque for me.
Guilty Pleasures
I just can't help myself, I like these movies
Waterworld
Ahh, Waterworld. The movie that most critics would point to as signaling both the death knell of Costner's career and the ultimate indicator of the man's hubris. The movie was a huge flop in the US based upon the income to cost ratio. The movie cost over $175M to make and grossed $88M in the US. Outside the US it grossed another $160M or so and did at least $44m in rentals so the film has never been the failure it was made out to be.
Quite frankly, I love Waterworld and it is one of those movies I find completely addicting and I've watched it repeatedly. By now I've probably seen it at least 20 times. It's a fun movie! Kevin looks hot! What else do you need? Of course, I love any and all post-apocalyptic scenarios and WaterWorld is Mad Max on water. Honestly, what's not to love?
Revenge (Unrated Director's Cut)
This movie is insanely violent and pointless and possibly racist. And yet, I love it. Primarily because Madeline Stowe and Kevin have ridiculous chemistry and several very hot scenes together. Also, he is just stunningly attractive in this movie. I am completely shallow and I don't care.
The Postman
Hah! Don't laugh. I saw The Postman on opening day in a movie theater with maybe 5 other people in it. Not a good sign at all. The fact that the movie also needed serious editing and closed with a completely ridiculous scene were just two of the reasons this movie flopped big time. BIG TIME! I do not like this entire movie and if I had my druthers I would rip the DVD to a hard drive and do the editing that Kevin should have done himself. But the funny thing is, the things I hate about the movie are things I hated about the book so I'm going to just blame David Brinn for this one. I find much of the film quite enjoyable though and a lot of it probably has to do with the fact that I'm just a sucker for post-apocalyptic settings. It's kind of sad that the movie flopped because I'm guessing Costner must like this kind of thing as well, but between the lack of success with both WaterWorld and The Postman, I don't think he'll ever bother again.
