Letting users control your site can be terrifying at first. From day one we were asking ourselves, "What is going to be on the front page today?" You have no idea what the system will produce. But stepping back and giving consumers control is what brought more and more people to the site. They have a sense of ownership and discovery at the same time. If you give users the tools to spread and share their interests with others, they will use them to promote what is important to them.Break your computer. Seriously I can't tell you the number of times I have reformatted my hard drive because I tweaked something until it broke. Needless to say, my PC wouldn't boot. But I took something away from that and never repeated the same mistake twice.

Kevin Rose vs Alex Albrecht
I recently started watching the Diggnation podcast and have loved every episode of it so far. Once school starts I won't have time to watch it anymore but seeing as how school is not in session, I have a lot of time on my hands. I would love a chance to sit down with these guys and just talk tech. I think Kevin is more knowledgeable while Alex is the more hysterical dude.
Who would you rather have a beer with?
