Do You Type? Do You Use Computers? Then You Should Care About Keyboards!

All computer keyboards are not equal--that's for sure. There are cramped ones, flimsy ones, fold up types, ergonomic ones of various kinds. Which ones are the best? How can you find the best value for the very best keyboard for your busy fingers?

That's what we're going to explore. Why? Because I'm looking for a keyboard. I need a good one. It's what I do.

The question is, which keyboard is best for your wrists and hand positions? Which ones are actually damaging to your wrists and hands? And which ones are helpful and prevent damage like carpal tunnel injury?

FASCINATING KEYBOARD FACTS

DID YOU KNOW THAT...

"Stewardesses" is the longest word typed with only the left hand.

And "lollipop" is the longest word typed with your right hand.

No word in the English language rhymes with
month, orange, silver, or purple.

"Dreamt" is the only English word that ends in the letters "mt."

The sentence: "The quick brown fox jumps over the lazy dog" uses every letter of the alphabet.

The words "racecar," "kayak," and "level" are the same whether they are read left to right or right to left. They are called Palindromes.

There are only four words in the English language which end in "dous": tremendous, horrendous, stupendous, and hazardous.

There are two words in the English language that have all five vowels in order: "abstemious" and "facetious."

TYPEWRITER is the longest word that can be made using the letters only on one row of the keyboard.

A "jiffy" is an actual unit of time for 1/100th of a second.

The average person's left hand does 56% of the typing.

Dell Deals

Which keyboard is the best deal? That's the big question. Are you going to go by price or by comfort? In my case, both are important. I want an inexpensive keyboard but also a comfortable one that will keep me from developing carpal tunnel problems. I suppose I'm shooting for the moon, but...

Keyboards

The choices

1. The cheapest one you can find--not the best idea.
2. The smallest one you can find--really not the best idea, unless you want to go crazy.
3. Go to a store and actually test various keyboards--if they'll let you.
4. Try an ergonomic keyboard of some type for a week or so (it takes a while to get acclimated) and return it if it stinks.
5. Just stay with the cruddy keyboard you already have till it falls apart and the keys have a meltdown.
6. Get the most expensive keyboard on the market--of course you would have to have money.
7. Do what I'm doing and ask for advice from you squidly friends and online curiosity-seekers.
