Being an Overcomer
We all have struggles in life and it seems to hit some more than normal. There really is no "normal" when it comes to struggles, but in this lens, I wish to share what I have learned and how it helps me to go on through hard times. It really isn't what we go through, it is how we go through things that establishes our faith and trust in God. Too quickly people have a tendency to blame God for what happens to us. On the contrary, rather what it is, the choices that we make with our free will. I am hoping with this lens is that these keys will help you become an overcomer of life's struggles and become more dependent on God. Even those of us who are ministers in a way or licensed Ministers, or Pastors, Preachers, Evangelists, or whatever our or there position is, the true fact is that they/we are human first and need to be encouraged just as much as anybody else. The thing we all have to remember is that in order to be there for someone else, we have to be ok, stable,and functional. That means we have to take care of ourselves mental, emotionally, physically, but most of all Spiritually. Below is a list of things to do and the scriptures that go with them. At times it will not be an easy journey, but the results in the end will be worth it all. Besides these, having a safe and a good support system will help you. May God guide you and you listen to Him on your journey to being an overcomer.
The 12 Keys
1. Resist the devil and draw near to God
* James 4:7-8a; Ephesians 6:11; Proverbs 18:10
2. Be on guard and watch your soul
*1 Peter 5:8; Proverbs 22:1; Psalm 19:14; 1 Corinthians 10:12
3. PRAY
* Isaiah 40:31; James 5:16; 1 John 5:14; Luke 18:1b
4. Plead the blood of Jesus over you and keep the word of your testimony
* Revelation 12:11
5. Give Christ your will, your whole self
* Romans 12:1; 1 Chronicles 29:5b; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Mark 12:30
6. Do all you know the Lord wants you to do.
* 1 John 1:7; 1 Timothy 4:12; 1 Thessalonians 4:3
7. Overcome evil with good
* Romans 12:21; 1 Thessalonians 5:15; Matthew 5:44; Luke 6:31
8. Show love to ALL
* Romans 13:8-9b,10; 1 John 3:14-15; Luke 6:35
9. Forgive Wrongs
* Mark 11:25-26; Luke 23:34; Matthew 18:21-22; Ephesians 4:32
10. Sing, Rejoice, count your blessings
* Psalm 50:23;Psalm 107:1,21; Psalm 147:1; Philippians 4:4
11. Think on good things and keep your mind on Christ
* Philippians 4:7-8; Isaiah 26:3;
12. Trust in the Lord with ALL your heart
