Keywords and SEO

A TAG is very similar to a keyword.
They both tell comuter search engine spiders exactly what is on your website/lens.
That way the search engine can pop you into the Paris Hilton box or the Armadillo box according to what your website is about.
(Is that a rent-an-armadillo service ? They are SO Cute !)
You will by now (if you've been on the internet for more than half an hour) have been besieged by offer from SEO (Search Engline Optimisation) companies trying to get you to sign up for their super duper service.

Well they vary in size and quality but that's pretty much the easiest route to do seo on your site - provided you don't mind paying some pretty fancy cash for the privilege.

Most of them do a pretty good job.

There are however ways to do this yourself.

The first way is a subscription service called Wordtracker.
This is a clever piece of programming that will take any word or phrase you want and will make a huge list of suggested keywords relevant to your website.
That's good and its not too expensive.
The alternative I use is Keyword Elite

You then take these Keywords (lets call them TAGS) and you submit your wenbsite to all 600 of the search machines and list the most relevant tags to each of them with a brief description of your website. That will bring you in a little traffic.
You should then sign up for Web 2 services as follows :
www.stumbleupon.com
www.digg.com (should be newsworthy though and Digg will throw you out if you do it too often).
This is in addition to mentioning your site on Facebook,MySpace and all the other social networking sites.

A technique call Tag and Ping is fairly easy to do. Sign up with www.Pingoat.com and go to their site (copy your URL - that's the address at the top of the browser for your page or site) and paste it onto the Pingoat page where it says url. You will also have to type in your website name and click on the ping button.
At Pingoat we are pretending to be a BLOG but pingoat doesn't seem to mind. WHen you click the ping button , pingoat will send your website details to over 50 other sites that will in turn send it out again.I suggest limiting any website to be pinged once or twice a week .

Its easy to get traffic to your website...
But what do you really want from the visitors who come ?
Usually the answer is that you want them to BUY a product or service.

Targeted traffic is visitors ** IN SEARCH OF SOMETHING ** - when you enter a word or phrase into a search machine you are searching for something - the whole effort of keywords and tags is to ATTRACT buyers to YOUR website rather than someone else's website.
So you have to push the STRENGTHS of your product or service or website in those keywords or tags.

Put yourself into the place of the buyer - what phrases would YOU use if you were loking for your product/service.
Those words or phrases should be your keywords.

What you need is customers looking to BUY - and you MUST target those customers with keyords/tags

OK - now here's a free extra on Arbitrage -
Google is probably the best source for Adwords type ads - BUT it's by no means the cheapest.
Google bids will vary according to the relevance of your content. The more relevant the content the lower (usually) the bid price.
Google are not the only search engine in Town though and its VERY lucrative to put adwords-stle ads on OTHER search machines at a very much lower cost. In my opinion you should do BOTH.

Before you even register your domain you MUST think aboiut the keywords that will be most important to getting visitors to your site. Now visitors are OK but what you need is vistors who want to buy from you !
So you should use wordtracker or KEYWORD ELITE to find your most lucrative keywords (that is the KEI factor)for your purpose.
On the adsense front you are trying to get the best paying keywords but if you are advertising with Adwords you need to find the cheapest Adwords keyword that will still bring you in good customers.(For as litle as possible).Watch the videos in the KEYWORD ELITE page for a better explanation of this topic.
Basically You MUST use your major keyword as either your domain name (difficult) or as part of your domain name (a LOT easier - like Best-"YourDomainname"-ever.com and this WILL bring more traffic.

There are a few things to drastically AVOID -
Stuffing your pages with keywords will get you banned from most search engines as will totally irrelevant keywords.Some people market 'Black Hat ' SEO methods but eventuqally search engines find out abou those methods and ban the users .
Using Link Farms will also eventually get you banned.
There are also words that will actually stop your website from receiving any traffic at all.
