New lower book prices and a new blog, er, hubpage! If you are in search of more of Dr. Ni's writing, watch and learn as a Ph.D. deals with homelessness on the Hubpage, "Surviving Sheila Dennis" (http://hubpages.com/hub/SURVIVING-SHEILA-DENNIS). Soon as I figure out how to add this as a RSS feed, you'll see it automatically below with my other blog, "Dr. Ni's Notes & Nibbles." To the SquidooU page for this sea creature .......
Last but not least, I have rejuvenated this Squidoo page after one full year of inaction. Look for NEW POSTS here, located after the RSS feed from Dr. Ni's Notes & Nibbles. I promise one NEW POST about relationships here once per week, usually updated over the weekend, or at the very latest, by Monday evening.
(And now back to our regular programming!) Kicking Butt As Adults means we love ourselves without bound, without reservation, and without fearing conceit or arrogance or being the talk of the town.
Kicking Butt As Adults means we know how to love others with a gentility uncommon in our modern world and not wear ourselves out doing so, whether those others are children, aging parents, co-workers, or that half-naked person we slept with our arms around all night last night.
Kicking Butt As Adults means we compete in the workplace without apology or dirty tactics, and we win because we set a standard for ourselves and we hold everyone to that standard--starting with ourselves. We don't ask of anyone else what we would be unwilling to do or sacrifice from our own pockets.
Kicking Butt As Adults means that we love this Universe in which we co-exist with a multitude of other beings, visible and invisible, conscious and semi-conscious, alive and in transition--and we love them all because we are supposed to, because our love for them models Our Creator's Love for us.
Kicking Butt As Adults means that we are able to do all of these things because we understand that our power, our strength stems from the unceasing, incomprehensible love that Our Creator sends with us through this incarnation; a love so strong, so lasting, and so fortifying we have to periodically forget its power or we would spend all of our time hugging trees and planets and babies and angels.
Kicking Butts As Adults means that we are unafraid to give: to the less fortunate, to our neighbor, to our enemy, to the person in the room with the most pain in his or her eyes and expect absolutely nothing in return.
Kicking Butts As Adults means that we unashamedly believe in and pray to a Higher Power because we know that we live and breathe and imagine at the will and under the grace of a force mightier than all of us pushing together. We know that Higher Power is Love; we count on it.

Because I Need To Know Jesus
For My Beloved, Who Explains the Biblical with Aplomb
FOR HIM

because love does not die .....
his need for verse like breath
coming fast and wanted in the midst of asthma attack
short and desired but panting leaves the desire great
the meeting of the desire hoped for, prayed for
unmet.
my need for his wisdom like thirst in midst of desert
stretching vast and yawning, large and lugubrious
a desert that teaches as one prowls it and answers are requested
because the thirst is for how to appropriately write about and praise
the God we love with our whole hearts, minds, and souls.
the God who answers our every prayer.
i long to ask if Jesus really was perfect
and what does perfect mean?
did He not lose his temper?
did He never want to slap someone
for their lack of christian understanding, kindness
generosity?
did He see shortsightedness, grasping, unnecessary want
and want to hit someone?
or was He so perfect that He absorbed the blow of all He witnessed
and continued to love us, knowing the cross was coming?
i prefer a God human and moved by human exasperation
yet i do not want to belittle the gift Our Holy Father, the Great and Awesome Oneness
gave for our salvation
if He was indeed perfect
how then do we approach emulating all that He did?
how do we turn the other cheek when our first
burns from the slap of want
forced upon us by simple greed and grasping
by someone else's simple lack of self-esteem
how did Jesus do it when He could see
this person's belief in lack is creating real lack
for those i love and trust?
i need stretching, joseph, in my understanding of this kind of perfection
how are we to emulate that which seems impossible to stand?
how did He stand it?
is that what true perfection is, means
is that how true perfection breathes?
i want to know
because i find myself in a shelter
surrounded by small minds and trivial people
whom i want to save
whom i want to provide for
whom i want to see
how brilliant they could be
if they stopped thinking small
being trivial
wishing for little, less
than all they have the right to be, have.
and most of all, beloved,
i want you to teach me about this Christ
this Son Of God whose Father has incited
such anger, such rage in your belly
this Father whose desertion when you were a wee one
leaves you only able to truly love the Son
not understanding how the Father could leave you
alone
unloved
unsought after
untouched by kindness
a mother's kiss
by the coal bin
on the schoolyard
in a choral master's house.
i see the injustice
and i see the rage you hold onto like
a child afraid to let the one toy left
go
let it go, Beloved
Christ is waiting
it is the Son who wants to see you truly free
it is the Father who awaits the release
of justified rage
the Father wants to hear your recitations
your fury, your bespittled speech
ranted at the top of your lungs
He wants you to let that last toy go
and accept the freedom, the love,
the grace and breath
Christ died for you to inhale
Christ died to bequeath
so that you might live
abundantly
well
with no chains
and no breath
lost.
